Odometer not working

Hi all, This is opposite to another thread recently. Speedo needle indicates the correct speed (as close as it has ever been) but the odometer has stopped working, this was found after the winter lay up so I assume it is stuck. Is there any documentation to show where is seized or jams so I can try ...

Re: Manky steering wheel

I have used Milton Sterilising solution (tablets dissolved in water) on a clean rag to work quite well at getting rid of the sticky feel.

Re: Devon Moonraker side elevating roof struts

Hi,
Not sure where the struts came from as they were fitted to the van by the previous owner.
Sorry I can give you more info.
I assume the Double Top roof is the standard side elevating roof ?

Re: Sliding door grab handle mod

Hi,
Thanks for posting this.
The lack of a proper VW handle has bugged me, we have a couple of brass handles fitted by the previous owner.

Is the handle that is fitted the same as the A pillar handle?

Re: Best spark plug socket

use a short offcut of garden hose to fit the plugs so you can feel that they are not cross threaded and not put too much force on them, only use the socket for torqueing up against the crush washer Same method here, I have found that the sockets with the rubber lining apply too much side load and c...

Re: Mattress for side opening pop-top

Hi,
The Devon has two board made from a hardboard skinned egg box cored board, quite light with a about 3" of foam velcroed to the top. The board is very similar construction as an interior door, not the strongest but OK for kids to sleep on.

We use velco, best to glue or sew to the bottom of the cushion.

Not quite suitable for a cup of tea but ok for water bottles and all the normal stuff in a van.

Re: Trouble starting when hot

I have the same will it, won't it moments when starting from hot. Normally ok after filling up with fuel, but leave it for a bit longer and it will spin over well but will not fire, eventually it will fire and run ok. Often thought it is the fuel evaporating due to the heat of the engine bay and tak...

Re: Autobox final drive diff pan seal

I cleaned up the base with a scraper and some solvent. Check the bottom of the diff cover as it will probably be slightly bent were the bolts go round the edge, I knocked then flat carefully and ran a file over the face to make sure it seated properly. I also used a oil resistant sealant (not too mu...

Re: Make a T25 safe for kids!

We have a Devon with an original back seat/R&R bed, I welded some tubes into the existing frame with some detent sprung catches that hold the VW head rests in place. To use the bed you lift out the head rests. Very similar to the CC kit. The tube used is from B&Q about 5/8" square https...

Front seat side storage

Having looked for a while for a small clip on pocket to go on the side of the front seats. The pocket would be used for phones and odds and ends. I found these in IKEA late last year , part no 503.037.35 about 99 p each. They simply clip in behind the trim panel that is fixed to the side of the seat...
