Re: Diesel pump timing - help required.
Some good suggestions there but logic tells me to spend the £60.00 on a timing kit, that way I will learn how to time the engine,I will be able to eliminate that from my enquiries and I will be able to change the timing belt if the engine turns out to be worth it. With the engine correctly timed, a ...

Re: Diesel pump timing - help required.
Thanks for the input guys, a bit late on the primer bulb though as I have already fitted one, I thought it would be a good way of making sure that there was always fuel at the pump. I have not fitted clear fuel lines yet but I will order some as the ones currently fitted seem to have gone hard. I ag...

Re: Diesel pump timing - help required.
Does it run clean once the engine is warm? If so look at glow plugs - it probably isn't the pump. If it does it all the time then it's retarded, confirm this by pulling the cold start leer which should improve starting and reduce smoke. You can wind as much advance in that the standard slots will a...

Re: Is this the correct accelerator cable? (with photo)
Cable looks right, pump is deffo wrong. Thanks for the info Simon, Can you elaborate, anything you can tell me is a bonus, this is my first foray into the T25 world so not really sure what is what yet. I live in Otley, not too far from you, I was hoping to get her up and running and bring her in fo...

Re: No power to glow plugs?
Thanks OBG, I have managed to test the first two glow plugs, they are showing as good but can't get the bus bar off the back two until my glow plug spanner arrives. Am I right in thinking that the last injector has to come off to get access to remove the last glow plug -it looks very tight in there?...

Re: Is this the correct accelerator cable? (with photo)
The plastic anti-vibration clips are missing from the injector pipes - replace them or you have fractured pipes to add to your woes. http://i404.photobucket.com/albums/pp125/boyofabeach/pipes.jpg Thanks OBG and well spotted, I will try and source some. It would appear from your diagram that I am mi...

Is this the correct accelerator cable? (with photo)
Hi folks i have a 1983 diesel van but it has a 1V non turbo engine. The accelerator cable has been secured with a bit of tying wire, can anyone advise if this actually the correct cable for this engine / pump or is there a different one to suit? The part of the cable that attaches to the linkage is ...

No power to glow plugs?
Hi folks, my 1983 diesel van takes a few attempts to start and then misfires and chucks clouds of white smoke out when it does. My thoughts are that the glow plugs are not doing their job? I have checked and I have a live feed coming in to the electrical box in the engine bay, the fusible link is go...

Re: Radiator fan not working
I am not sure what is going on, I have bridged fan wires in the past as a temporary fix and I have never had any issues. The fan worked fine off the car when I hooked it up, I will dismantle everything tomorrow and start again, crawling about in the dark and rain after work is no good, I have booked...

Re: Radiator fan not working
ok. what voltage doid you get at the live wire in the plug? can you get a length of wire from battery pos and touch this to each of the other 2 wires in the plug , sounds like you have afaulty supply to the plug mm It was about 11.7 volts to the live. I will try and run a wire from the battery to t...

Re: Radiator fan not working
im trying to understand what you did :rofl , if you pulled the plug off the switch and you stuck a meter in the plug and one wire had 12v appx then that is correct, so a bent bit of wire from this live to eacvh of the other 2 wires in the plug and it should come on. all the switch does is what your...
