What’s this rattling in the engine?

So this has happened all of a sudden. Fluids look ok. No oil slicks. But this loud rattle from the engine has started.

Anyone able to diagnose from this quick video before I get up to my armpits in it?

Just realised I can’t post videos…

Re: Where are all the speedo cables???

Couldn’t get the other methods to work. End up using a bit of gentle grinding and it came off a treat Using my ramps made routing the replacement cable a doddle. I could have screwed then up higher but it worked fine at this height. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20240217/02cf77dc5aa1badf4c4b81544...

Re: Front passenger grease cap keeps coming off...

I tried both methods but neither worked. That mofo was on there good and proper. Mind you my claw hammer had a chamfered claw so difficult to get purchase on the cap rim. As this part was knackered anyway I used some delicate grinder action to thin and heat the metal and it came off easily. Speedo n...

Re: Where are all the speedo cables???

Thanks for that. I have soaked it in WD 40 too. Perhaps a little heat might help.

I wonder if it might come down to that…

Re: Where are all the speedo cables???

How do you get the darn thing off?

I’ve tried a crowbar. Was going to apply some heat but thought I’d check with the heat and good first.

Re: Front passenger grease cap keeps coming off...

I think my cap has been rounded out by an unsecured Speedo cable. The circlip is missing. How do I get the darn things off?

Where are all the speedo cables???

I’ve got mine now, but I don’t know if that’s the issue. Just took off the hub caps to locate the business end and there’s no circlip on the cable to secure it, and it looks like the hole in the cap has been rounded off. I believe it’s supposed to be square? Am I right? How do you get this darn thin...

Where are all the speedo cables???

Ours went on our 88 RHD DG and all the suppliers seem to be out of stock for some time. Guess they all get replied from the same place.

Re: Temperature Sensor Woes!

It’s a long time since I looked at this last but is there a full range thermometer set up that gives you an analogue second opinion? I recall there are ports available as we added an oil pressure gauge.

Re: Starter motor 2.1 dj - click click

Or maybe a wiring issue? You haven’t mentioned replacing the trigger wire to the solenoid. Often well corroded at the solenoid end, corrosion which creeps down the wire. Causes high resistance/low voltage at solenoid. You say problem more likely to occur when hot? Hot cable is higher resistance? Do...
