I was thinking if position 2 fed the switch, and then went out via the NC state, and fed the starter via the NO state, it would replicate what the switch does??

Thanks, I wouldn’t do it if I wasn’t getting paid for it [SMILING FACE WITH OPEN MOUTH AND SMILING EYES] Put the interior back in with a few improvements, customer’s very happy apart from the fact he can’t use it for a while! Was this a one off or what you do? Where are you based? Sent from my iPad...

Has anyone added a starter button?
I have an issue with the ignition switch (new one on order) but it made me think about how to wire in a starter button. I also read about remote start from the engine bay (which I may try until the new switch comes), and wondered whether there was an issue with normal running. When you turn the key ...

Re: Engine bay remote starter switch
In normal key operation, When you’re switching to start, the running circuit is disconnected until you release the key back into normal running mode. Why is that and does that have any impact on a remote start setup like above? Or to adding a starter button up front... Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Re: Starter motor/electrics?
I was scratching my head and then realised you were talking a different fuse box layout. Mine’s like this. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210227/a39924a5a92c4b38f403d60a8d3f8dd3.jpg However I started at the beginning and have found the key switch Ain’t switching. Just that connection. Other cont...

Re: Electrics.....??
So the 12v circuit operates just like the gas?
Ok
So what would be the reason this is pulling excess current now? And probably not working (to any appreciable degree).

Re: Starter motor/electrics?
Cheers BH. Further investigation showed it wasn’t the solenoid clicking it was something in the air inlet/carb area (choke?) Anyway turns out my trigger wire is intermittent. Must be a break/corrosion somewhere. It looks poor and has Earth insulation tape around the sheath where it must have worn du...

Re: Starter motor/electrics?
Solenoid is engaging So let’s follow it through... Continuity in trigger ok. Obviously because of above Continuity to alternator ok Starter body is earthed. Continuity checked ok. But solenoid output nut connecting solenoid to motor via braid is continuous with starter body. Is that correct? Would s...

Re: Starter motor/electrics?
And starter was replaced last year. With all the other issues experienced from this “VW Specialist” in the New Forest I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a fitting/connection issue.

Re: Starter motor/electrics?
Hi there.
Did you ever solve? Our starter has just stopped. Happen a couple of time before but then worked after a rest/cool down. All times were after a longest drive.
Hear relay click in glove box. Solenoid clicking too. No movement in starter.

Re: Electrics.....??
Thanks folks! Impeccable advice as ever! The connection is in indeed the 12v connection for the fridge. The fridge has a built in switch to switch over to 12v and an indicator LED. I’ll switch the power over to the main battery and look to install a relay ay some point too just in case. The other ...

Re: Reverse lights no worky ??
Pulled it off. Gave it a scratch. Gave it a wiggle. Lights worked. Spot of corrosion on contacts.
I then went to augment reversing lights with LED spots. Forgot to isolate and blew the fuse (#15 if I recall from last night). Schoolboy error.

Air intake - what’s the point of this?

So is this a leftover from air cooled configuration?
Does it give any purpose to a DG? I guess it takes warm air from the engine compartment before air from outside?
