Hi all, Just to update...another friend of a friend has looked at van and found a petrol leak on right hand carb at spindle, so has greased it for now but we will need new carbs. he found a couple of leaks on hoses going from air filter, but having plugged those the van runs no differently. so will ...

Thanks Emma for the quick reply and info, camperteqchnique agreed it could be done that way, though said it would be a day job in itself and not one to be done on the roadside! So reccommended that we steam clean the engine now that all the other seals have been done and see if there's still another...

Hi all, just a quickie as I'm having the work done this minuite, campertechnique is changing my seals etc, and was going to do the oil cooler seal too but said he can't cause he thinks he has to drop the engine for it, but I'm sure someone said on here that you don't have to do that....is that true?...

Well whatever you do don't go to Beetle repairs under the Itchen bridge Soton. I only asked them to check out an oil leak to see if they would give the same answer as another garage....and they charged me an hours labour, plus a tenner to put some oil in "as it was low"...If he had looked ...

Oh well that sounds a lot more do-able!! thanks then. P.s by the way Beeetle Repairs Garage are complete C***'s.....they only charged me £60 for looking at it, (£49.50 an hours labour) and for putting some oil in!!! Hi all, Just to let everyone know I've taken the van to Beetle repairs under the Itchen Bridge, Soton, to get another quote on the leak. He reckons its the push rods and the oil cooler..for which you have to drop the engine. He quoted £600 plus parts, and did say that it may not cure the problem, al...

Hi all, I've been to Blackfield Garage Southampton to have oil leak checked out been getting a smell in the cab where oils been leaking on the exhaust, and he said there a a few leaks but that the one near the exhaust is a leaky fuel pump and that I'd need a new one.
