Re: Trigger wire what size wire and crimp
Oi I know what I mean ! Nope my side cutters couldn't touch it. I put a cable tie around the wire to give a nice edge to cut to and carefully cut the wire with a hack saw. The wire was held against a piece of sacrifice wood. The Big Herb tip worked for cleaning up the copper and it went from black t...

Re: Trigger wire what size wire and crimp
Bigherb,
big thankyou. The crimps and crimper that I have definately ain't up to this job, or in fact my wire strippers. I have cut an inch or so off with a hacksaw and it's looking a bit black and oxidised so I will try your tip.
Thanks again
Al

Trigger wire what size wire and crimp
The female crimp on the red and black trigger wire is on its last legs and maybe the problem I currently have with the click click click click and then eventual start up. I need to strip back some wire and put on a new crimp. Can anyone point me in the direction of the right size crimp or size of th...

Not sure if this will help you, but whenever I have telephoned VW Heritage and told them the Brickwerks price they have always price matched them.
Good luck

Re: 1.9 DG wet weather issues
I agree with what Itchy has said above, I had exactly the same issues, turned out that when I had replaced the fuel tank I had knocked off one of the breather pipes during the refitting, and therefore everytime it rained the splashing up effect allowed water to get into the tank. The first time out ...

Re: Intermittent starter problem
Thanks for the replies, I've been bogged down at work last couple of days so haven't had the energy to drag my backside off the sofa and go look, appreciate the input and hopefully the weekend is going to be clear for me to have a look see.

Re: Intermittent starter problem
No I haven't yet, I'll get it up on stands this week, hopefully and check. It strikes me as strange that a gentle rock back and forth solves the problem. I think I need to read up on what actually happens when you turn the key and in what sequence. I guess I'm fishing around for suggestions and ideas...

Re: Intermittent starter problem
Chunksta, I don't know the make, it was a brickwerks jobbie that was £130 ish + surcharge and I changed the bush when I did it, I've checked the receipt and it doesn't say the brand, I'll slip out later and have a look, just got changed and have people coming so Mrs A will not be chuffed if I disapp...

Intermittent starter problem
Very occasionally I put the key in the ignition and get a click, nothing, nada, zilch, nil. If I slip the van into gear and just gently rock it back and forth the van fires. I did put in a new starter motor about 6 months ago and new battery, I have checked the earth straps and cleaned them. Any thou...

Another vote for the B&D. A very useful tool that I got given as a present and probably wouldn't have bought myself, I bought a bag of 50 belts at a car boot for very little but there not as good as branded
