According to the very useful t3 selector, our van has the early brake callipers, and a real mix of other bits! I checked this when we first got the van, but had forgotten all the info, might have to print it all off.

Refurbed brake callipers

Our front near side brake calliper is worn and making the brakes move slightly resulting in a clacking sound as we drive along. Has been bodged by our garage but after a trip to Pembrokeshire, it's worked loose again, but having spoken to my garage he is concerned that a refurb might still have a si...

Re: fan heaters, what type have you

After giving up my fan heater to the OH in the awning, I've bought a new one for the van, it's a Kampa Diddy, two settings 750/1500 watt, is reasonably quiet and is indeed, very diddy. Perfect for the van.

Re: Wing mirrors give up over 60mph

My sand and grease on the ball method works and never needs changing! A lot of people have used it since I devised it. I used this for ours last year and can still adjust the mirrors a little. Will be interesting to see if it still works on our longer trip down to Pembrokeshire next week....have pa...

Re: Speedo cable replaced but...

Thanks itchyfeet, I checked our dremel, and have some cutting discs, but not many and from experience using it, they don't last long, not in my hands anyhow, but I will bear that in mind for smaller bits. I used the drill and wire things, got down to bare metal and filler, oh so much filler, but did...

Re: Speedo cable replaced but...

Went out for a little run yesterday, lovely not have the clacking. Other random sounds I can cope with and nothing sounds terminal, but now, oh yes now, the gear stick is getting very stiff once everything gets warm. Fine from cold, but gets increasingly stiff as we trundle along. Also spent hours a...

Re: Speedo cable replaced but...

Hooray, the annoying clacking noise has been located and fixed. It was the near side front brake pad very slightly loose in the calliper which is slightly worn, so a shim and spring or something has it sorted. The brakes are fine, the calliper is as good as it can be and the brakes, steering etc are...

Re: Speedo cable replaced but...

It's more of a clacking sort of sound which stops when the brake pedal is depressed even slightly. However, I'll check the grill and other random loose rattling bits and pieces, could take a while...

Re: Speedo cable replaced but...

Nice idea but it does the noise with or without human or even the dog sat on the seat, but I'm open to any and all suggestions. It does sound as though it's coming from underneath the van somewhere. Spent the journey from Cornwall last year trying to find it! I'm hoping it's a bit of rusty something...

Re: Speedo cable replaced but...

Thanks itchyfeet, I've spoken to the garage and he also thinks it's something to do with the brakes, possibly the calliper or pad is loose or something so it's going in on Thursday for a check, can't drive 300 odd miles with that blummin rattle. I've had a rake around as you do but can't see anythin...

Speedo cable replaced but...

Last year, on our trip home from Cornwall, we developed a strange and annoying noise which seems to come from somewhere under the passenger footwell. At the same time the speedometer started behaving strangely, so after some research we decided the cable needed replacing. Bought one from brickwerks ...

Re: Inflatable Drive away awning

We have the vango Sapera, which is great. Had it a few years now, it came with a separate bedroom inner which we don't use, is a nice space, good Windows etc. I put a new fig 8 rail on the high top above the door to raise the awning and use fig 8 strips with a piece of kador/keder strip to make it e...
