Re: is my maisie 1.9 dg slow?
70mph for a 1.9DG is about right although I don’t go over 60 in mine and she gets there quite easily on the flat. I’ve got a set of Mansi 1:35 ratio rockers, and after a top end rebuild is pushing out 85bhp so has a bit extra pep going uphill: https://club8090.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=173273&...

Re: Chassis Corrosion
Hi Stu,
That's a common part that goes mate and will need constant attention - I got Tom at Eagle Auto's to sort mine out. Might be worth putting your finger up inside the trailing arm bracket as well to see if it's crispy there too (this isn't usually picked up by the MOT tester).

Re: 83 1.9DG T25 engine idle issues.
Thanks for the pic. The things i'd be checking are as follows: Idle control solenoid (red lead coming from the carb) that should click when the ignition is switched on Ignition Amp as suggested by Tobydog - yours looks like the original and wouldn't hurt to replace just as a preventative measure an...

Re: 83 1.9DG T25 engine idle issues.
A failing hall sender can work intermittently so sometimes it will start fine and other times it won’t, but if you’ve recently changed it, i doibt this is the issue. Do you have a spare dizzy at all, it might be worth swapping it over just to see if it makes any difference. Worth putting up some pic...

Re: 83 1.9DG T25 engine idle issues.
As well as Stu’s suggestion, was there any build up to this beforehand or has it just started. Also what carb have you got - it could possibly be the idle control solenoid or maybe a failing hall sender (try giving the lead on the side of the dizzy a wobble). Just work through each element methodica...

If you cannot find a solenoid i’d suggest contacting Eric at the Carburettor Hospital, although they are currently away till 17th March though:

Have you tried for a quote from Tom at Eagle Autos Stu? I’m hoping to get a quote from him to do the whole nearside sometime this year.

Re: Trying to ID cause of cooling system issue 1.9DG
As others have said, Andrew at Campershack is a top chap and know's his stuff. Does sound like failing fire rings as i had the same problem and did a top end rebuild in 2018 and she's still going strong (touches wood!) - i've attached a thread that i put up back then which might help, however, ther...

There’s these chaps but looks like there’s a waiting list (but that could be for full resto’s). They might be able to recommend someone nearby:

Re: Rain Deflectors (drivers/passengers)
Contact Climair in Sidcup - I have a set of their smoked ones on my bus but they do clear ones as well. Proper old school company so worth giving them a call with your request and they'll order them in for you. Mine were a special order direct from Germany so you may have to wait a couple of weeks...

You could save a couple of hundr...

Re: Fuel leak (sometimes)
Whilst the fuel tank is out it’s a good opportunity to clean around the tank area as it’ll be full of years old crud and then spray a decent amount of Waxoyl/Bilt Hamber prior to refitting.
