Re: Spluttery 1.9dg with pierberg 2e3
Also well worth checking the vacuum advance on the dizzy. Sounds very much like the problem I had a few years ago (particularly when warm) and I pulled my hair out trying to work out the issue. Changed the vac uni and been fine since. Its possible to change the unit without removing the dizzy.

Re: It took you how long? - Back by popular demand
3 years of a grinding starter motor complete with unpredictable starting! Finally got round to buying a replacement and changing which took less than hour all in after a bit of reading on the wiki and searching the forum for tips (thanks as ever).. The internal bearings in the old starter were compl...

Diesel Rev Counter pre-wiring
Morning all. Asking on behalf of a friend who has an '86 Holdsworth Vision with a 1.6TD on a Caravelle conversion. He has no rev counter on the binnacle just a clock but would like to install an aftermarket tacho. Looking on posts on here we have worked out that a link to the "w" terminal ...

Re: Dash Battery Light Woes. Trying my best
I have this issue. I am convinced this is with the alternator - in my case, the internal connection to the D post on the alternator is poor - I get 14.2 at the B and around 9.5 to 10 at the D - result constant slight glow of the batter light on the dash. Solution is probably to split the alternator ...

Re: Starter Motor Woes
So finally got Flickr to work! Couple of pics. Note the loose body screw in first pic https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4396/36796377351_45cb26e40b_z.jpg 20170830_175206 by Tom Sawyer , on Flickr The main cable has either been replaced or cut back at some point - it now has a clamp connector. Other wir...

Re: Starter Motor Woes
Bush! That's what I meant. Not bearing. Mental block there somewhere. Had a look tonight and a bit oxidized around external terminals but not excessive. I'll try and post pics later. Also one of small body retaining screws on the back of the motor was completely loose. Can't help. Typically ...

Re: Starter Motor Woes
Thanks Rob, that was my first thought but sometimes the starter flies except when hot. Anyway plan is to get underneath at the weekend and clean up the connections to see if it makes a difference. Might change cables too.

Starter Motor Woes
Hi folks. Van starts fine when cold. When hot, particularly after a long run, he takes a lot of turning over before firing. Sometimes, this also comes hand in hand with the Starter Motor sticking or really slow turnover. When the starter motor sticks, i Have been able to usually tickle it back into ...

Re: Anyone weighed their van!
Sounds right to me. Unladen weight of a panel van is 1320. Add in glass, pop top and furniture easily gets around 600kg.

Re: Which fridge (replacing RM212)
My door was hanging down at the bottom where it has a join, I used a strip of aluminium which I bent but you could use asymmetrical angle Aluminium, then I used rivets to fit and it keeps the bottom of the door from sagging, looks ok Need to replace flexible gas pipes every 5 years I think, they ar...

Re: Which fridge (replacing RM212)
Pretty much the same size giver or a take a few mm and the flu has the same handing and although I needed a new flu kit it went out the same hole as the 212. I paid 485 for ours plus delivery (£20) early last summer - on fleabay after a lot of shopping around. It has a battery (AAA in the button) sp...

Re: Which fridge (replacing RM212)
Good move to keep the existing if you can - I replaced mine last year when the heating element on 240 gave up the ghost with a new RM5310 which is the new equivalent of the 212. Great bit of kit and I love the flexibility of 3 way as opposed to a compressor fridge - also didn't want to start upgradi...

Gala Tent do portable car ports - around £200. They have some huge ones. Depends how much room you have!
