Re: Painting Rusty Coolant Pipes
That's reassuring Kev, thank you. I remember finding it hard to source the pipe that runs laterally behind the pulley, but that could have been a stock issue?

Re: Painting Rusty Coolant Pipes
That's great, thanks John. Judging from the state of the coolant when I got the van I'm not optimistic. If nothing else painting the rust will be a psychological thing!
I wasn't sure if it'd take the heat.
Thanks again matey, have a good day.

Painting Rusty Coolant Pipes
Morning all, I've got a couple of rusting coolant pipes on my early 1.9 - knowing that some of the pipes are getting hard to get hold of, I don't want them getting much worse. So I was wondering if painting them might be an option? I could wire brush the loose crap off and go over them with Hammerit...

Re: Pipe from header to top up
Fair enough OBG, thank you. What's the reason? I thought a regular jubilee clip would suffice with it not being under much pressure.

Re: Pipe from header to top up
Lol I had to look twice
Awesome OBG, you're a star. Got the bugger off. There's a jubilee clamp going back on there! Just got to wait for the new hose to arrive.
Thanks so much everyone. Have a good evening

Re: Pipe from header to top up
Thanks for the replies chaps! I've had pliers either side of the ear but nothing is moving. I'm loath to put too much force in in case the spigot on the expansion tap breaks!

Pipe from header to top up
Right then, further to my last thread I'm going to replace the pipe between the header tank and the expansion bottle. Been having a root this morning - has anyone seen a clip like the pic below? How does the bugger loosen? http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u99/oddnumber76/image_zpsbwtkmlbw.jpeg Sho...

Re: Red temp light and reading off the scale
Ant, can you remember where you got the pipe from? Is it 6mm?
Thanks dude!

Re: Red temp light and reading off the scale
Yup, that's the one i thought. For the cost of a bit of tubing its got to be worth doing to rule it out.
Thanks matey. Have a good day.

Re: Red temp light and reading off the scale
Morning Ant, do you mean the coolant pipe? That's one thing I'm going to renew anyway, thank you. Do you happen to know what size yours was?

Re: Red temp light and reading off the scale
Indeed - that's whats making me think (and hope
) that its a coolant level sensor problem.
A new sensor arrived today so we'll see what happens.
Thanks chaps.

Re: Red temp light and reading off the scale
Thanks dude, where can the relay be found in an early wasserboxer? Fuse box?
The problem stopped/started intermittently when I took it for a run earlier, which made me think a connection/sensor problem.
E D I T: just looked above fuse box, and no 42 or 43 relays

Re: Red temp light and reading off the scale
Interesting, thanks chaps. Just as per that thread linked, my needle shoots northwards too.
The connections look ok, so I'll get another sender and go from there. Glad it's not a genuine overheating problem.
