Re: Help please, mechanical problem, european trip
Thanks for your replies, I`ve had a look underneath and it`s the inner c.v. joint, offside. Noisey even when moved by hand. Pushed it to and fro and it did stay quiet on a short journey. We`re going to stay put and call a mechanic on monday and go from there.

Help please, mechanical problem, european trip
Hello everyone, I replaced my camper a few weeks ago, bought one with a fresh ticket, did as many pre-trip checks as I could before we left but, literally as we were driving on to the ferry at dover a quite audible cliking noise started, from the rear once every revolution. When we drove off the ferr...

Thanks for your reply, I`m sure if try harder I`ll find something positive in it. Were they vw springs or aftermarket?

saggy back end/rear spring query
Since fitting a 1.9 tdi a few years ago the back end is a bit lower than it should be, especially when it`s loaded up. Mine is `80 so maybe the springs are just a bit tired. I did take a couple of springs from an `87 camper in a scrapyard a few years ago, just incase, so I could put those on but a c...

Re: seat toledo mk1 2.0l/ vw gti
Thanks, I might have to do that. The bloke who sold me the idea and said he`d help me to get it running turned up about a week ago. The engine is from a toledo mk1 but the loom, ecu is from a 1.8 gti. He did some of the wiring and said there`s not much more to do but it doesn`t look close to me and ...

Re: seat toledo mk1 2.0l/ vw gti
Thanks, i`ll check tomorrow to see if the wires from the ecu correspond. Mine is an early type without the obd port but hopefully they just added a few wires on later models.

seat toledo mk1 2.0l/ vw gti
Can anyone tell me if these are the same engines. I was talked into replacing the flat 4 in my crewcab with the seat engine( code 2E) which i was lead to believe was the same as the gti. But 18 months on i`ve been left scratching my head now its time to connect the wiring and, can`t seem to find a w...

low oil pressure on start up 1z engine
I`ve been chasing this problem for over a year but I`ll try and be brief. I put the engine in my t25 and everthing was fine, (oil light went out in a couple of seconds) until the cambelt slipped, head knackered(300 miles into France). Returned with a partially recon head and brought it back. Over th...

low oil pressure to head on start up
Hello, firstly I must say a big thankyou to ewenmaclean who gave me a lot of his time a couple of years ago to talk me through wiring an immobilser into my loom so I was able to start it( which must have been very frustrating as I have no auto electrical savvy), at a time when he had very little to ...

Thanks for replyling, the wiring diagram does help although i think it`s a bit more advanced than mine. Now then richlaz, thankyou for explaining in laymans terms, it`s helped me to understan...

Re: New canvas for pop top
Hello, the company is Kingswood canvas, Kingswood, Bristol, if you do a search on line you`ll find them easily. The material they used is not breathable but is cotton backed to eliminate condensation and there are also the two air vents either end, which I suppose if I`d thought about it I could hav...

Re: New canvas for pop top
I`ve just replaced the bellows on mine which is a viking spacemaker, I checked out a couple of sites, (popupparts was one) and don`t doubt that they`re very professional. As it cost nearly £400 and having a long list of other things to buy, I looked around and found a company local to me(Bristol/Bat...

Re: wiring a zig unit
Apologies to the person who made the first post for sort of hijacking it and hope you find some of this relevant, but thanks for the info. My unit has the same layout on the fascia as the cf8 but has an extra wire on the back going to terminal 12. The switch which i think you referred to is the midd...
