Cheers itchy, did it make much difference, mine is working ok but seen people on forums recommend doing it. Also the instructions talk about 'float levelling' but only have Webber and solex on the measuring chart

Gear box wear and tear
Hi all, Are there any tell tale signs that your gearbox is on its way out or do they just give up. Just wondering for future ref. thanks

Ok, so I wired up the high pressure switch. Turn on ignition oil light is on, start up oil light goes out, been for a drive, gave it some revs, oil light doesn't come on. Problem solved????

Cheers for that, engine is a mixture of early and late parts
, the high pressure switch was disconnected when I got the van, the wire is just cut off at the connector block and just hanging, only the low pressure switch is connected.

Oil light at high revs
Hi all, I have a rebuilt 1.9 dg, ticks over and drives sweet but get I get an oil light at high revs, turn engine off and restart, the light goes out until I rev high again. Any ideas would be much appreciated

the outer face, the one that faces the flywheel, is being rubbed smooth by the flywheel

Another thing i noticed is every where someone mentions tapping the seal into place, bit confused as i pushed mine in with my thumbs

Cheers both, can see what your saying, maybe pics not clear enough, the metal is the structure of the seal but it is covered by the outer coating, this outer coating is being rubbed off by the fly wheel and then the lip on the inside becomes detached from the outer ring, bit hard to explain, heres a...

Flywheel oil seal pics

Fly Wheel Oil Seal
Here's the pic of the first seal put in after rebuild, you can see the metal showing through where the outer plastic has been rubbed off by the wheel.
