Re: JX 1.6TD over revving? What could be the issue?
Just being going through old posts on Smokey JX engines. From Harry Mann: Diesels can run on oil as well as diesel fuel (which is also a refined oil).. if oil is getting into the inlet tract anywhere, in sufficient quantity, the engine 'might' 'run-on' - that is accelerate without any throttle being...

Re: JX 1.6TD over revving? What could be the issue?
Thanks for reply. Clutch is good and throttle cable is not catching. Have just been reading Baxters Brickyard thread on Definitive smokey JX engines. I had an inkling that the engine was smelling more of Diesel in the exhaust. I am going to run a few more tests but after reading the JX smoking ...

JX 1.6TD over revving? What could be the issue?
I have a T3 with a JX 1.6TD engine 5 speed gearbox. After long journeys this summer with no issues the engine has started to feel like it is over revving when changing gear either on the flat or going up hill. The closest sound that I can describe is like when an automatic gearbox has trouble chang...

Re: JX 1.6 TD Fuel pump auto advance mechanism
I got one in 2014 from: http://www.ebay.de/itm/Membrandose-LDA-VW-Bus-T2-T3-1-6-TD-generalueberholt-2-Jahre-Gewaehrleistung-/271207273700" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;? It was a lot cheaper in 2014, now it is not much cheaper than brickwerks and with brickwerks you don't h...

Re: JX 1.6 TD Fuel pump auto advance mechanism
I bought a serviced LDA on eBay from a seller in Germany. It was part exchange. Cheaper than in the UK and works fine.

Re: JX 1.6 TD Fuel pump auto advance mechanism
LDA = Ladedruckanreicherung
and if you put that into google translate you get boost pressure accumulation.

Re: JX 1.6 TD Fuel pump auto advance mechanism
Do you mean the LDA? If so: https://club8090.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=133600&p=8007862&hilit=+LDA+Wastegate#p8007862" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; It is really common that the diaphragm is broken in the LDA on JX TD engines. When the LDA is not working ...

Re: Oettinger Intercooler
Thanks for that - I found some pictures and google translate has helped! My Turbo, LDA and cylinder head have all been replaced. There are a couple of metal tubes in the engine bay that would of held the charge cooler in place. I'm going to take the rest out of the Van and should get a better airflo...

Oettinger Intercooler
Oettinger Water Pump.jpg I have the remnants of an Oettinger intercooler in my Atlantic 1.6TD. Basically a small radiator in front of the main one and a water pump situated next to the gearbox. The water pipes are discontinued from the pump into the engine compartment- I will most probably remove t...

Re: 2 Speed Fan
For the 2nd speed on the radiator fan there is a relay attached to the interior body work behind the fuse box with a 50 a fuse. I would check to see if the fuse is blown or if not if the relay is working. If both the fuse or relay are working then check wiring to the fan and back to engine fuse box....

Re: Relay issue on Radiator Fan High Speed.
I will be keeping my eye on it. The 50amp blade fuse is the recommended fuse for the relay for high speed fan.

Re: Relay issue on Radiator Fan High Speed.
Update. Fan in high speed now working.
The original 12v+ must have burnt out somewhere along its route. I have run a new 70amp 12v+ cable from engine fuse box under van to the 50amp blade fuse behind front fuse box and now both radiator fan speeds are working.

Re: Relay issue on Radiator Fan High Speed.
Thanks bigherb. There was one inline connection behind the fuse box coming from the cable duct from under the vehicle which then attaches to the relay. I checked that and it was good so looks like the cable has burn out. When I checked the relay to begin with the 50amp strip fuse had blown - It look...
