Re: Wiring on Electrolux RM 212F Fridge

The green wire goes to the positive on the battery. Just have to hook up gas now to test completely.
Thanks Katie

Re: Wiring on Electrolux RM 212F Fridge

Thye fridge is not in my van yet - I bought it with all the wires cut and am in the process of testing it before using. I did read that a 9 volt battery will ignite the gas. Can you remember how you connected the 9 volt battery seasider? The other thing I noticed was that the 12 volt only worked whe...

Wiring on Electrolux RM 212F Fridge

We have managed to work out where the 12v and mains wires go on a newly bought Electrolux RM 212F Fridge. However a green wire coming from the ignition switch is proving difficult to wire. We have a wiring diagram and a copy of the manual from wiki but there is no mention of a green wire. Any ideas ...

Re: Pricing up Home conversion campervan to sell

James, thanks for taking the time to post the really funny little giff. Thank you Tony for your very helpful questions.
We have now received some really good advice regarding finding a fair price for a home conversion campervan.

Re: Pricing up Home conversion campervan to sell

It has a 1.9 non turbo diesel engine fitted four years ago. The engine is an excellent starter and runs very well. Underneath the van it is very solid rust wise. The seams have some rust which has been treated with rust killer. Generally the van is running very well and is used on a weekly basis. Th...

Pricing up Home conversion campervan to sell

We are thinking of selling our type 25 1989 1.9 Hightop campervan. As it is a home conversion I have no idea how much the van is worth. The van has 12months mot, rock n roll bed, 3 way fridge and 2 ring burner and lots of storage. It works as a camper but is a home conversion. I realise this brings ...

Replacing/cutting ignition/door key

I seem to have lost my spare set of van keys. Can I simply take my key and get another one cut or do I need to go to a VW dealer?
Thanks Katie

Re: removing Hammerite

The entire hallway woodwork (up + downstairs) of my house was painted in silver hammerite. I used nitromorse to remove it but the job was a bitch and a half. Have you considered covering the offending silver with vinyle sticky back stuff now available in lots of cool designs or painting a more taste...

Intermittent Horn/hooter

My horn is working intermittently. I have checked the steering wheel horn button thing and it appears ok. Is it more likely to be the actual horn itself? If so can someone please tell me where it is located? The van is 1989 so the horn is getting on a bit I guess.

Bulbs & LEDs

Thanks Phredd, the information in your link seems very clear. It must be at least 3 or 4 years since I took out the bulb at fault, at the time neither local VW garages had replacements and I didnt know about club 80 - 90. I 've just looked at my van - the sleeve/ housing is blue. The original little...

Replacing Main headlamp indicator on dashboard

The little LED type bulb that lights up on my dashboard, when my headlamps are used on full beam has burnt out. I tried to buy a replacement from my local VW garage to no avail. Any ideas where I can get one of these little bulbs. From memeory its in a little white holder and was a pig to remove. I ...

Paint n beds

Thanks Louey, I think I'm going to get a JK version - they look good and I've always been pleased with their stuff so far. Your van looks the same colour as mine. Do you know its proper VW name? My old van is due a lick of paint.
Thanks katie

Constructing a bed in front seat area for growing child.

Our little boy has now outgrown his corner spot in our van (Type 25 1989).
A Dutch couple said they had made a bed in the front seating area. Apparently it goes across the seats and over the steering wheel. Have any member done something similar and if so do you have photographs?

Thanks,
Katie
