Re: Replacing the two interior striplights in my Autosleeper

I hadn't thought about just changing the current tubes (won't make them any nicer to look at, though!)

The 400 lumen figure give me a toe hold if I start looking to change.

Thanks, both.

Replacing the two interior striplights in my Autosleeper

I'm looking for ideas and suggestions with how best to replace the ugly and inefficient fluorescent striplights in my Trident.  I think it's time for some 12v LEDs.  One's above the sink and the other above the rear seat opposite. How would I work out how many lumens would be about right?  I want co...

Sourcing replacement fibreglass bumper

A stupid neighbour took the corner off my Vanny's front bumper - thankfully her bullbars stopped the damage being more serious and, as is often said: "you should see the other guy". Although it is an insurance job I've got to do the legwork and get quotes, etc. Has anyone any experience in...

Help me help the mechanic?

Hi, I've looked through the list of recommended garages and there don't seem to be any that close to me (North London). I have been using a very good and approachable local mechanic, Graham, who doesn't seem to have much T25 experience but is keen and real old-school (he likes the fact there is noth...

Re: Battery restraining clip - can't see how to undo it

With a little help from the chap with a garage at the bottom of the road the clamp finally came out - and it's not going back in!

Phew.

Thanks all
Paul.

Re: Battery restraining clip - can't see how to undo it

battery clip.jpg With this pair of pics I'm trying to show that the clip is L-shaped and bolted at the same level as the base of the battery. Do you think I might have to unbolt and lift off the whole seat swivel? (I did loosen one of the 4 bolts but am worried about where the nuts might fall and h...

It is more like the second of those two photos . . . . but not exactly . . . . I'll try and take and post a pic of what I'm dealing with tomorrow.
Thanks
Paul.

Battery restraining clip - can't see how to undo it

Hello all, after having a delve around here today I have been able to remove my driver seat and swivel the base round to get access to the starter battery - I can't though lift the thing out because of the restraining clip and don't see how to get at the nut that will release the clip - is there a s...

How to fix worm screw and get mileage counter working

Hello, someone did kindly describe how to fix this before - sadly it was in response to a 'wanted' message when I thought I needed an instrument cluster and posted seeking a replacement one - that message is now long gone and I'm about to ask Graham at the garage to see if he can understand what was...

Re: Indicators not working

I've just almost identical thing happening - indicators are OK until lights are on. I'll get Graham at the garage to have a look at the earthing behind the dash (I'm asking him to reconnect the worm screw thing for the mileage counter anyhoo, so he'll be going in there). I'm glad I did a search in h...

Re: Use of leisure battery to start if 'engine' battery flat?

Thanks for your comments, everyone, I'm getting an education here . . . "cold cranking amps" indeed! This time I think it was radio or lights - first time was an electric coolbox. So a few things for me to look into and think about. I do like the idea of switching radio to use the leisure ...

Use of leisure battery to start if 'engine' battery flat?

Hello all, For the second time since I got Vanny in June I have managed to flatten the 'engine' battery and needed a jumpstart. Would it be feasable to use the leisure battery to get her going if I do it again? Could I just use a pair of leads from one to the other? The reason I feel unsure is that ...

Re: Cycle carrier when there's a ladder on the back

In the end I bought a £20 carrier from someone on ebay - straps on to the tailgate and holds the bikes proud of the ladder with no problem (and the seller said they'd take it back if it didn't fit). The fact that the ladder is there has the extra benefit that I can padlock the bikes and carrier to t...

Re: Airlock somewhere twixt tank and water tap?

When I was out packing the van for tomorrow's trip I also tried a quick suck on the tap, (I did check that no neighbours were passing by first).

Sadly no joy - I will try again after I get the chance to put some (more) water in the tank to make sure I'm not being an a***.
