Overheated 1.6td
Hi and Help Please I have a 1.6td (1988) T3/25 and have a horrible feeling the engine has "cooked" as iu seriously over heated when the alternator belt snapped. It is being looked at soon to see if it is just a head skim and gasket job BUT --- if it isn't does anybody know a good source fo...

Re: bleeding t25 diesel coolant system
Thanks guys, For sure it was precipitating rather heavily (or summat like that lol) yesterday. Gonna take the ole fella out again soon and see what happens. I hope that is all it was. I need to get some confidence back after a series of problems (the over heating originally was my fault I have to ad...

bleeding t25 diesel coolant system
Hi, I have just had as replacement engine put in my 88 t25. It is a 1.9td AAZ replacing a 1.6td JX. The guys had some issues with the cooling system electronics but these seem to be resolved . HOWEVER, I took it out today and when I returned from a short run the Radiator was steaming . It was rainin...

Changing Interior
Hi Guys I have a 1988 Carthago Malibu T25 with pop top but the interior is getting a little "tired" . I was thinking to re panel it using the existing layout but changing from the plasticated type doors etc to plywood ones. Do you think this would devalue the van in anyway as it will then ...

Thanks Cliff,
I will look at these guys. One problem is shipping one way is costly enough. Shipping the dead one back will double it of course

Re: JX Engine dead
Hi Titas (lol)
Saw the website re the rebuilds and for sure they look good but unfortunately they are out of my budget range. Did look on Ebay.de but saw nothing. Do you know of other possible outlets for used engines in Germany please?
Cheers
Brian

Re: JX Engine dead
Hi Craig, Getting a used JX seems to be very difficult. Have looked getting full rebuild from Germany but it is quite costly - regrettably not an option due to funds (or lack of lol). Maybe I'll be able to get a used JX in Germany? I am looking at that option as well. I am aware of the difficulties ...

Re: JX Engine dead
Hi Craig Cheers Mate. Seems my best option is to forget the 1.6TD as they are rare as rocking horse manure and spares are becoming a nightmare. Best option would appear to be to drop a 1.9D in (eg from a Golf Mk3). Any thoughts on this please? Seems it is quite doable with a few mods which, hopefull...

Re: JX Engine dead
Hiya Smcknighty
The block is buggered, water in cylinders etc. I have been advised to forget it and drop a 1.9D from a Golf mk3 in instead of trying to fix/repace this 1.6TD
Cheers

Re: Might've cooked me motor
Are you sure it is bugered? I have "cooked" a few motors in my time and have been very lucky over the years. Unless you are pee'd off with that particular engine I can't see any harm in replacing the belt and see how it runs. Unless of course it seized or rattled to a stop. Cheers CS Not ...
