Re: 100w Flexible Solar Panel
On my setup I have partially hidden the mppt by the near side front seat beat (mines a lefty). The mppt is quite clever as it disrupts the charge from the panel, if the batteries are full it turns the surplus voltage through a built in heat sink on the back of the mppt. I opted to buy the additional...

Re: 100w Flexible Solar Panel
That sounds Awesome v-lux
Have you seen the 12v laptop power supplies from maplin.
They don't need an invertor and are straight DC I reckon its much more efficient powering a lappy fromone of these than using a DC-AC-DC convertor which is what an invertor and normal laptop PSU do.

Re: 100w Flexible Solar Panel
Is it a Solar charger controller or a standard 240v control like a westy BBB or Zig unit? If not then you will need a solar charge controller, otherwise you might boil your batteries. My solar charge controller is in additional to and compliments the existing Westy BBB charger. My solar charge contr...

Re: 100w Flexible Solar Panel
Thanks Ghost In all honesty I'm not sure what it should be exactly, because the cable distance between the 2 batteries is about 2 meters I felt I needed a beefy cable to allow for the additional resistance (Ohms). I wouldn't have felt comfortable knowing there's 12v and a shed load of amps flowing t...

Re: 100w Flexible Solar Panel
I agree I 'm really pleased with the flexible panel and you can hardly see it, if I had enough room on the roof I'd put more on there. From the charge controller I used 20amp cable, because may batteries are in parallel I have the the postive cable going to the battery under the drivers chair and th...

100w Flexible Solar Panel
I've wanted for sometime to fit a solar panel to my camper and increase my leisure battery power whilst off grid. I have a Westfalia high top and I wasn't keen on the idea of fitting one of those rigid solar panels to the roof, so I opted to fit a 100w flexible solar panels, a 20w Solar Charge contr...

Re: Oil Fill Pipe to sump - sump threaded! Wife angry! Panic!
Hi it sounds as if you are talking about your oil return pipe from the Turbo. http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn85/astramad-cab/2011%20onwards/bb25411c.jpg I would remove the sump plug just to ensure all the oil has drained out from the sump, if you can't get the sump retapped with a tap and die ...

Re: connecting additional leisure battery
Class now if my crusty old turbo diesel did 88 mph I might end up Back to the Future!!!! My starter battery is in the engine bay so I can use the space under the seats for the battery storage. 200 Ws sounds awesome, have you got any pics of your set up? Also how have you mounted the panels to the ro...

Re: connecting additional leisure battery
I'm also looking to add an additional leisure battery and I'm going to go down the Tayna route http://www.tayna.co.uk/XV100MF-Powerline-Leisure-Battery-P8960.html Looking to put 2 x XV100MF Powerline Leisure Battery 12V 100Ah under each seat to give me 200Ah wired in parallel. I know there is a whol...
