1.6TD - Brickwerks, long way from Brighton. Alternative?
In order to sort out engine issue(s) https://club8090.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=148460 which have not resulted in anything calamitous (yet), I want to get my 1988 1.6TD T25 to somebody who really, really know their stuff who can diagnose a simpler issue but can deal with a rebuild or sour...

Re: Oil pressure warnings recurring - where next?
Sorry - still not getting notifications of replies! Thanks for the messages... I use Mann filters which I think are meant to be good so should be OK on that front. Flushing is an interesting suggestion - I shall however first wait to see how things develop following the filter change. I've still onl...

Re: Oil pressure warnings recurring - where next?
I am now returning to this if I may with a little more evidence on symptoms. To recap briefly, oil pressure warnings, buzzer mainly, then red light, had been becoming GRADUALLY worse over a period of 1000 miles. So I changed the oil (15W40) and filter 500 miles ago well ahead of usual schedule. This...

Re: 1.6td oil change - suitable pump?
Well that's the plug under the hole which is less than a foot from the rear of the vehicle. I hope it will spout engine oil if I manage to get it off!

Re: 1.6td oil change - suitable pump?
Thank you Drillmaster, they do work well when they work and I suspect you had the same type of pump as me which worked first time and I got 4 litres out in about 5 minutes with no mess sticking the tube down the oil filler. But that experience seemed to be a fluke and the crappy tubing is now kinkin...

No. The thread has suddenly got helpful. Thank you :) https://club8090.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=136634" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Once I witnessed a professional, albeit unfamiliar with T25s, remove that tray to change the oil. I have never noticed a hole bu...

Re: 1.6td oil change - suitable pump?
I am not physically capable of getting the undertray back on.
It would be very helpful if somebody could help with the question.

1.6td oil change - suitable pump?
Does anyone use a pump to change oil? I am thinking of trying http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sealey-TP696-Vacuum-Extractor-Manual/dp/B000WZF74M/ref=cm_cr_pr_pl_footer_top?ie=UTF8" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; or http://www.amazon.co.uk/Pela-6000-Oil-Pump-Extraction/dp/B002EJ2GUC/...

Re: Oil pressure warnings recurring - where next?
More apologies for a tardy response here! With Christmas arriving I think I'd rather forget about the camper woes!!! :) marlinowner - Your logic is spot on and I will go look. Of course I have to find somebody who knows what they are doing, especially with unconventional mods. dbz864 - Making sense ...

Re: Oil pressure warnings recurring - where next?
Sorry I have not come back on this - I ticked for notifications and have received none... Thanks for all the replies. Ian - I've replaced the one switch and because I've been getting warnings from both sources and they have followed a pattern relative to time after oil changes I am inclined to belie...

Oil pressure warnings recurring - where next?
Over the last 15 months my 1988 T25 Westfalia 1.6td has been giving off oil pressure warnings, both the light and buzzer. These were occasional at first but on a trip half way down France and back in the summer became so regular that I made a B-line back to the channel ports. On my return I bought a...

1.6TD JX oil pressure testing - same reading both locations?
I have a 1988 1.6TD T25 Westfalia. Buzzing and warning light issues have lead me to invest in a pressure test kit and to my relief, taking a reading at the easily accessible top sensor I had 1.5 bar at 2000rpm when hot. Then I read that in theory the test should be conducted at the oil filter, which...

Re: Help getting 1.6 TD started - MOT retest Monday
Just to round this off, with special thanks to all who gave input, it apparently was the bus bar. Once it was off the plugs tested OK individually. The two easily accessible ones were replaced while my mechanic (who had removed the fuel lines) balked at the extra uncertainty/difficulty of taking out...

Re: Help getting 1.6 TD started - MOT retest Monday
That seems logical to me.
In the photo you can see what is happening to the bus bar, the insulation is peeling away. But for the areas not visible I traced my finger along the bar and could not detect any contact with surrounding metal.

Re: Help getting 1.6 TD started - MOT retest Monday
Thanks. Brickwerks was the next place I looked and I have one on order with 4 plugs and relay. I figure that I will probably be sending back some of these bits. I have the MOT pass document in my hands! The nut is not coming off the bus bar so I cut the cable. The ohmmeter tells me that there is no ...
