Re: Oil queries

Hey...so this evening I sat out in Red with the engine running for about 15 mins on tick over and not much happened. No oil dripping, no lights flashing. I started revving after a while and after about 5 minutes of this the light started flickering when idling. After a few more minutes the light was...

Re: Oil queries

To use that amount of oil is must be A, smoking like a builders transhite, or B, leaking..leave it ticking over for a while on a clean bit of road and see how big a puddle of oil is there after say 20 mins with the engine hot, I bet it's leaking....the oil light issue could be down to electrics but...

Re: Oil queries

That is all the symptoms of crank shell bearing wear, I would get a garage to do an oil pressure check with their gauge. Sorry, was that addressed to me or shaka1976 *reads back to make sure I've got the username right this time* ;-) To you Ms "onegirlandacampervan" (what is your first na...

Re: 3-way fridge, gas usuage

Awesome, thank you! I was just turning the gas knob to full, didn't realise I needed to hold it in...but then again, seeing as I need to do that on the stovetop, I probably should have realised ;)

Re: Electric hook up in France

If you can.....get a 25 meter one.......many off the sites will have long distances between hook up points.....10m is often too short. Thank you :) I could only manage to get a 10m one in the end (and then didn't even need it...it's always the way. The things I stress about the most are often the l...

Re: 3-way fridge, gas usuage

I wondered where you went - it has been nearly a month! :-D I didn't realise how to check up on my past posts *silly girl* I'm not sure the gas does work...I tried several times to get it lit, but despite having the gas turned on and the knob turned to full and clicking the ignition button li...

Re: Gas bottles

Awesome advice all :-) I think it's like £35 to get a cannister from our local Morissons (and then you've got to pay £15 for the gas on top of that) so I'll see if I can find a cheap one around to use as a spare :)

Thank you!

Re: Oil queries

Silly question but is your van getting up to temperature? I ask as I had a problem with my 1.9D using oil but once I fixed the thermostat (o ring missing) it fixed the problem. It's reaching halfway on the thermometer...infact, the light only starts flashing once the engine is warmed up (when the c...

Gas bottles

So, I'm setting off to France tomorrow and I have an unknown amount of gas in my bottle... Our local supplier is one where you take an empty bottle along and swap it for a new, full bottle...along with some money of course :-) So! How do you tell when you need to do this? I have no gauge on my bottl...

Re: Oil queries

Oh! Thank you! I didn't realise I hadn't made the next steps after joining the forum! I'll do it now :-) We're heading to Brittany (Portsmouth - Caen) and going to a wedding in Tremblay, then taking a drive up to stay for a night in Versailles (Huttopia!!), then a couple of nights in Maisons-Laffitt...
