and a happy end to this story boys and girls
drained the tank both sides( the return pipe goes in the other side) with the van jacked up on a hill, put another 5 litres of petrol in drained that both sides as well. drove it down to the petrol station spluttering all the way, filled her up and she sputtered some more for 1/4 mile then the cough...

ok it does sound simple. i put 20 quid in a virtually empty tank £3 quids worth maybe. anyway it had emediate effect. will do the filter thing today . .read some other web sites on this they said that diesel acts as a lubricant petrol as a cleaner and may be benificial in small quantitys? , it said ...

that idiot has tried to syphon , cant get tube down.is there a syphon filter thing? what do peeps think this idiot should ( yes I am the Idiot) do next . take tank out?

ok I may be on a hiding to nothing from the smut brigade with that title but I am in the process of fighting the rust dragon in all the usual places. things to look out for pre mot
i'm doing the list of odd jobs for my mot but the first thing i thought of is to waxolyl the break pipes, check for rust around suspension mounts i,m racking my brain, have a look for wear on disks and drums, otherwise i struggle to think of anything else.

betsy failed me a couple of days ago. cut out intermittent once when driving then failed at next traffic lights. started up again there once briefly but nothing since. harumph! have changed coil ( second hand ) and new shiny quality leads and plugs (hmmm) still nowt. charging battery. going out agai...
