Thanks for the links, I dismantled it this evening and managed to unjam the steering lock which was distorted so it's all working again. One thing puzzles me, the thief had hot wired the ignition and drove it away but how did he manage to get the plunger in the steering lock to retract and stay back...

Any chance you could post the details of the hole position as I don't have a manual?

My van was stolen some time ago and I am getting around to sorting it out. The thief hot wired it and damaged the lock and now it won't turn past the on position.
