Re: Another Pierburg problem.Choke pull down unit & no idle?????
I put it back in. I guessed it was there for a reason. Probably to limit the amount of vacuum. Good luck sorting your van.

Re: Rear Wheel Scraping/Creaking noise
Any update on "that noise"? I seem to have a very similar noise wondered if it was your backplate..

Re: Gearbox/clutch issues!
Right then, ordered the oil (comma GL4 75w/90) Thanks Ian. Will post a pic of the magnetic plug when I get chance to drain the box. If it's furry like the pic in the wiki, is it time to consider a rebuild/second hand?

Gearbox/clutch issues!
Hello, I've recently bought a 1990 van that on test drive sounded fairly good apart from a blowing exhaust. It's a 2.1i with LPG conversion on a 4 speed box. I have now noticed that upon driving it a bit further, once the gearbox oil has warmed up, there is a bit of reluctance to come out of all gea...

Re: Welding in Birmingham
Thanks again for the replies. Wychall that guy is just around the corner from where I keep the van so will give him a call. MM Had a look at your threads... Amazing work and a great insight into what lies beneath! As I mentioned my plan is to keep the van so I'm not looking for a quick fix. I've add...

Re: Welding in Birmingham
Thanks MM great link/post. Its why I'm looking for someone in Brum who knows there stuff. The garages I have spoke to didn't really offer any more advice about the structure and not really interested in 26 year old vans! I'm not looking for a quick fix to sell it, I intend to keep it on the road as ...

Re: Welding in Birmingham (Jacking point)
Thanks for the replies... The bushes and point will definitely need replacing but the surrounding area doesn't look too bad. I know rust can get to places you cant see but this corrosion appears to have only affected the outside of the jacking point. There could be and probably is plenty of rust und...

Welding in Birmingham
Does anyone know a decent welder in Birmingham area? Need to get a new jacking point/trailing arm mount. Also any ideas how much it should cost? I'm a bit fussy who I trust with my pride & joy!
Cheers

Re: Another Pierburg problem.Choke pull down unit & no idle?????
Superb..
. Van back to life! Runs like a dream now. A good clean of the carb, replaced choke pull down & vacuum pipes. Just need to get her on a gas analyser and set the timing correctly. That was a job well worth doing and not so difficult thanks to all the info on here.

Re: Another Pierburg problem.Choke pull down unit & no idle?????
Cheers Rob! Got a modified one on order from Brickwerks. Should have it on over the weekend and the Van back to life. I also noticed while replacing the original vacuum pipe that there was a small restrictor inside it. Does anyone know if this is vital? It would be just a case of sticking it in the ...

Re: Another Pierburg problem.Choke pull down unit & no idle?????
Yes, filter from tank clean. No water in there either. There was a good squirt of fuel coming into the carb before I took it off.

Another Pierburg problem.Choke pull down unit & no idle?????
Hello all, This is my 1st post on the forum. I've read many posts regarding issues I've also experienced with my van & have learned soo much from here. It's amazing how helpful people are! I have a bit of mechanical aptitude and enjoy learning whilst I tinker but I'm stumped on this one so I tho...
