Re: Wipers and washers not working
Hmmm, more to think about. The blower always worked fine when I wanted it but I didn't test it when the wipers stopped. The wipers on the other hand always started off slowly and took a couple of wipes to get up to speed. The wipers didn't stop while in use but didn't start when I tried them. I wond...

Re: Wipers and washers not working
Many thanks for that. Also interesting to see that all the fuses are rated 8 Amp but I'm sure that they are not all the same in my box so I might need to change a few. 7 is shown as a spare so I could move that one to 10 for now.

Wipers and washers not working
Both decided to stop working the other day but fortunately it wasn't raining. Today I thought I had better check it out and first looked at the fuses. In the fuse box behind the glove box there was a blown fuse, number 10 of 12, so tried to find out if this was the fuse. Various wiring diagrams seem...

Re: Non VW woodworking advice please
Thanks for the advice, I see this has been moved to "Technical, Alternative & Modified". There are various shelves she has put up, they are mostly made from reclaimed wood being a lot cheaper than new. Some are slats used in an airing cupboard, some are 13' long chunks for bookshelves....

Non VW woodworking advice please
My daughter has asked about power sanders, she has put a few shelves up in their new house but says she cannot seem to get a reasonable finish by just hand sanding. I have a couple of orbital sanders I have used over the years and they have served me well but I've never had a belt sander. It looks l...

Unusual fault fixing
Probably should go in the technical section but it isn't very technical! For months now I have had the red brake warning light on. After checking the very important things like fluid level I came (hoped) to the conclusion it was a faulty handbrake switch and put it on my list of things to do when I ...

Re: Dashboard web cameras
Our main car has as does the camper on occasions although the 12V socket in the camper is temperamental so it gets plugged in to one of those all-in-one things that do jump starts, compressed air, light, USB, 12V and mains invertor.

Non T25 but still VW query
A friend is having a problem with their 2004 1.6i Golf. From what I can gather the Golf was showing some faults so went in to the garage who said that the ECU was gone. This was sent away to a supposed expert and two weeks later it was returned with a vague non committal "we don't know what the...

I think you can replace the copper contact ring behind the wheel.

That brake warning light
The red light came on while out on a long run last Monday. I had a quick look at the reservoir behind the dash and noted that although the level was visible it was at a low point so guessed that was the problem. I didn't have any fluid at the time but yesterday I filled it up but the light is still ...

I have my multi thingy which is an emergency jump starter, compressor, light, 240V inverter, USB socket and lamp - might have forgotten some other things! Not exactly small but is usually in the van and has worked very well for a few years now in all its options. If the jump battery is charged, and ...

Re: What are these bits called, probably non VW
headlamp backing rings is what i used to call them years back , should be a few knurled bits on one side for the chrome bezels to clip over mm Sorry for not getting back sooner on this, thanks for the response. No knurled bits on these rings, they are mainly flat with an inner and outer lip. I thin...

What are these bits called, probably non VW
Clearing a bit more in the garage and came across three metal rings. These are replacement body parts for when headlamp surrounds in older cars have rusted. I bought these when I was restoring MGBs and Triumphs many years ago but I believe they were common to a lot of 60s and 70s cars that used the ...
