Twin solex vacuum lines

Hi, I'm fitting twin solex carbs to my 2.0 type 4 engine. It has always had a single webber carb on it since we've owned it. I'm running a single vac advance dizzy. Does anyone have any pics or info on how they are piped up? particularly the vac lines to the carbs and the pipes for the hot air feed ...

Re: Type 4 engine rebuild - another! :)

Your getting on a lot better than I am, well done.
Did you have any problems with the end play on your distributor drive shaft?
I have measured mine according to Tom Wilsons book and I have around 3mm of play without the spring in! he recommends max 1.27mm.

Re: Engine rebuild (2000cc CU)

Finally got the crankshaft and cases back. The crank mains have been reground to +0.25. I asked the engine shop to check the cases to see if they needed to be align bored, which they said they didn't. Although i should trust their judgement, im a little concerned by this: You can just feel a slight ...

Re: Engine rebuild (2000cc CU)

Thanks for the links guys, have done some reasearch already on these aftermarket heavy duty pumps.
And lots of people are saying that you can get problems with the higher pressure. As it can open the pressure relief valve and bypass the cooler resulting in over heating.

Re: Engine rebuild (2000cc CU)

Well most of my parts are on order now.
Can't seem to find a standard oil pump. Does anyone know where to buy them new?
Thanks Dan

Re: Type 4 engine rebuild - another! :)

Your doing a cracking job! will be following your thread as i do mine too.
Where did you get your cam and oil pump from?
I've found cams from heritage for about £160 but not found an oil pump yet.
Thanks Dan

Re: Engine rebuild (2000cc CU)

Everything seems expensive compared to other engines fitted to these vans.
Just priced up most things i need and looking at around £800 and i'm by no means replacing everything!

Re: Engine rebuild (2000cc CU)

Thanks, I'm really lucky to have a fully equiped workshop to do it in, as I'm a HGV fitter.

These Aircooled engines are new to me though!

Engine rebuild (2000cc CU)

Evening folks I have recently taken my T25 out of winter storage. I changed the oil and filter which i normally do at the start of the season. To my horror i discovered small metal pieces in the oil! Obviously something serious had happened, so i decided to remove the engine and strip down to invest...

Re: Pickup repair panels

Glad someone took it on, I was really tempted but decided to hold out for a crew cab.
Was the old guy you brought it off as laid back as when I went to look at it! I turned up and he barely said anything, gave me the keys and let me drive off in it on my own.
