Re: Help needed

Plain yellow = the buzzer of doom pressure switch (0.9 bar or above).

Blue / black = the oil pressure warning light (0.3 bar)

Yellow / red = temperature gauge sender

Blue / green = coolant shortage sender / switch.

Brown is for chassis / ground.

Re: Headlight switch

Have you checked the “x” relief relay ? And the ignition switch ? They would be my next port of call. X relief relay, Numbered 18, 24 or 100. Or ignition switch. Both are just as likely. If it is the "X" circuit affected, then other big consumers would also be affected. Heater blower moto...

Re: 2.0 CU Starting issues.

There are three good UK suppliers. Alan Schofields is one of them. :) However many members would go to Brickwerks for their fuel hose needs, as they quote Ethanol safe. Not just "up to 10% ethanol [E10]. Here are the links... https://brickwerks.co.uk/product-category/t3-parts/t3-engine/petrol-t...

Re: 1.9DG to 2.1DJ engine swap

I am still going through the motions of a early DF to DJ conversion. I am retaining the early cooling and exhaust system, just grafting the 2.1 lump complete with injection into the space where the old 1.9 lump was. More or less a DH or GW set-up but with a larger displacement. I was planning on rem...

Re: Colortune

I had very good results with them in the late 80's and early 90's. It was also much easier to use than any other tuning device at that time. I was never a trained mechanic. Just a young novice petrol-head. It was just based upon a subjective opinion of the flame colour... whitey-blue, orangey-yellow...

Re: 2.1 DJ playing up when hot

I think it is time to break out the camera and get a few photos of all the obvious bits.

Distributor and vacuum unit.
ECU
TCi Unit.
Pretty much the whole area around the coil.

Probably worth looking for perished vacuum pipes as well.

Re: Cylinder head advice wanted

Sadly all my vehicles are old, and I have yet to see that particular Disney feature for myself. Especially on the van - I cannot think how many studs I have sheared, drilled and tapped, with the odd helicoil thread repair thrown in for good measure. Tired 40 year old nuts, bolts and studs are totall...

Have a look at the edge of the circuit board on your warning light. All the tracks are labelled. https://i.postimg.cc/MG0vJyKh/20220909-235558.jpg If you closely at the tips of the tracks you will see on this particular unit... 15 - Ignition Live (black) HB - handbrake (grey / green) F - fluid (flui...

Re: Fuel leak after pump recon

I am not a diesel expert, but my generic motoring knowledge would suspect a badly seated seal or gasket. Or at worst, an old seal or gasket has been re-used. I would be tempted to check that all securing bolts have been nipped-up properly. But don't go swinging on them to tighten them up, for obviou...

Re: License Plate Lights Not Working

How to fix if you cannot get the grey-green to provide 12 volts to the number plate lights. Early van - put a fresh wire between the grey-red wire in connector T7- pin 6 and the grey-green of the number plate light loom. As the "other" lights all worked, the grey-red for the right tail lig...

Re: Newly purchase T25 - Subaru 2.5 in it - Engine Temp question

The only thought I have is a dirty or tired coolant shortage sensor... Or a shortage indicator module playing up. But as said already, if it behaves well, and doesn't sneak past the 3/4 mark, then I would not worry. The gauge is just a guide, not an exact reading of the true engine temperature. It i...

Re: License Plate Lights Not Working

I had a good think about this... Firstly, your signature mentions a 1984 van, so this made me think of the early torpedo style fuse box. That would have been a grey-red wire from fuse 2 to the rear of the van. It is only at the rear of the van, that the grey-red splits off into two... grey-red for r...

You may as well be talking in some strange alien tongue - I love these 'outside the box' installations, I have done a few myself in my time, but this is all rocket science to me. - Very very impressive, but way beyond the capacity of my aging old grey cells. Following with great inter...
