towbar fitting to westfalia california

I'd like to get a towbar fitted to our van. Hightop Westfalia California 1991. 1.6TD.

We live in Northumberland.

Can anybody offer any tips? Generally about what type to have fitted, and particularly where to have this done in the NE? How much should this cost?

thanks, dave

Re: 1.6 turbo diesel won't start

Hi, can I join in this thread? Our van has also suddenly started playing up. Not dissimilar story to the original post. 1.6TD. Usually completely reliable starting. Used last week no problem. Dead yesterday afternoon. So, the dashboard lights come on as usual. Yellow glowplug light came on and then ...

Re: Emptying LPG tank safely

Thanks, Martin.

Just a bit nervous of fiddling with gas fittings!

I'll go for it and post next week with how it all went

Re: Emptying LPG tank safely

Hi I have a couple of questions about the auxillary gas outlet on our Westfalia California. I tried to search but the function returns nothing to the word "gas." Can't be working properly! Or is it me? Anyway Keen to get a barbecue fired up from the underslung gas tank. Is it really not a ...

Re: Whats this then?

It might be when rotated. Easiest to just put a blob of glue to stop it rotating? I could manage that! Doesn't otherwise seem that easy to remove the lighter without something snapping

Re: Whats this then?

Hmm It all seems to work so I'll not interfere more. Keen to modify the feed for the lights however. Your explanation is very straightforward and clear. There is some kind of fault behind the dash whereby fuse 3 keeps blowing. Seems to be related to the cigarette lighter as the fuse usually goes whe...

Re: Whats this then?

Thanks for the reply. You're right on both counts! It's a diesel (1.6TD) California. Very straight and untouched so I think the charger, black box, leisure battery and Eberspacher heater have been there from new. Is the BBB the charger? I'll try to check the voltage at the engine battery as you sugg...

Re: Whats this then?

Just following this thread. I have a Westfalia T25 1990 LHD. The engine battery is in the engine bay (I know because I had to jump start the van after the winter). Anyway, if I plug the mains hook up in for a while, obviously that will charge up the leisure battery, but does it also charge the engin...

oil level/ dipstick marks

Dead easy one. But I'm new to this so hope you won't begrudge such a simple question. I have searched for an answer in the archive but to no avail. I suspect everyone knows the answer so it's never needed to be posted before. anyway Oil dipstick: where should the oil level be? There are 2 blisters a...
