Hmm I have just found out that perhaps the TD heads have a higher magnesium content to cope with the extra heat.... what a bugger

Does this mean i can replace the cracked head of my 1600 turbo diesel with a head from a 1600n/a with no problems?

Hello Anyone know what the difference between a 1600 diesel head and 1600 turbo diesel head?

thanks for that will give it a go! wish i did use the passat pump now. but thought that it would hit the top of the engine lid

almost finished my passat 1.6td into t25. now went to bleed the diesel pump (jx pump) and cant get the pump to draw any diesel up. now is this a common problem with the pump? what would break on the pump to make it not suck. and can it be repaired? any ideas?

as far as i can tell there is not a timing mark on my 1.6 d flywheel. i do have a flywheel from a 1.6 td passat and this has a timing mark on it. but is it in a different place to where the 1.6 d one is? The inspection holes for the timing marks on a passat and a type 25 are in differnet places? doe...

44 mpg motorway driving at about 55 very light acceleration never using more than half throttle. panel van with hardly anything in it. (tool box and a caravelle middle bench seat (which is frigging heavy) so i reckon it could do better.
it was 38 before i changed the air filter for a new one.

its ok it came off with the puller, it was just being a bit of a bitch.

has anyone ever got it off and how?

Just picked up a h reg passat 1.6td with intercooler.

about to start the swap.

does anyone have any info on the finer points of this engine swap?

any info would be a great help. like do i need to fit a different turbo like from a JX
