churchill have been our insurer on the syncro caravelle since we bought it, always the best quote, don't mention 8 seats to anyone though, apparently that changes things. luckily our only has 7.

thanks very much for your replies chaps, unfortunately that side of the engine had lost all compression, so we gave up and fitted the spare engine that we had. that seems to be running fine atm, just done 200 miles in it and all was well.

Just done head gasket to cure a water leak on one side of an otherwise previously good starting running DJ, and now it fires once, but doesn't catch, and then fails to fire again. Defo got sparks, defo got fuel, injectors are squirting, in fact plugs seem to get wet very easily, no wires left discon...

definitly have a file to hand to reshape the ends of the actuating forks.. any flats on there will give a heavy peddle and poor clutch control... also need to remove the gear linkage and clutch pipe.. in fact its prob easier to remove the box in some ways rather than the engine... they do two for the 2.1 IIRC 85-89 and 89-90, something to bear in mind though. cheers.

thank very much all. i've suspected a wiring loom issue for a couple of weeks now too, central locking packed in, van stalled then wouldn't start even though it was cranking over.

looking forward to hunting this one down then...

i had a look around and that's the closest i could find, on gsf.
