Re: oil pressure switch working wrong way around?

Great, thanks, that sounds like exactly the kind of thing I'd do!
Remember getting the switch from VW heritage a while back and not being entirely sure whether I'd bought the right one.

Thanks for your help! :ok

oil pressure switch working wrong way around?

Hi guys, would love some quick advice before I go poking around under the van again. I just replaced the oil pressure switch (nestled in between the pushrod tubes on the passenger side of the engine), thinking it was causing the small but persistent oil leak (it doesn't seem to have fixed it). The p...

Re: Running warm

brilliant, thanks for the info. have just done this mod, will report back when I've got some experience of it on the roads. first impressions are that you can here the fan kicking in at low speed a lot earlier (just when warming up to bleed the system) so have positive rumblings for the effects in r...

Re: Running warm

this sounds like a good solution, is there a chance that you'll just mask issues with the cooling system though because you won't notice how hot it's getting?
otherwise I'd be quite keen to try it, where did you get the vr6 stat?
cheers :ok

Re: Engine bay raised platforms/storage - show and tell

Here's mine: https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7131/7441751954_2cc57d8740_n.jpg IMG_0401 by t25_1985 , on Flickr It's fairly scruffy (my first attempt at anything to do with wood) but does the job well - the narrow compartments on left and right have hinged lids and house all my spares and a few tools,...

Re: BERLIN VWBUS TREFFEN 2013

Sorry I didn't get back to this, I didn't have any access to internet!
Overheating problems on the weekend made me abort my plans and I didn't even make it to the show! managed to sort stuff out though and made it home, but it's a shame I missed it. Hope you had a good one :ok

Re: Keeping wing mirrors in place...

Put a rubber tap washer under the tension spring. Job done. I heard about this on the samba and gave it a go with a 40p washer, works a treat - mine haven't moved since. the washer just sits between ball and cup and keeps them firmly in place. Sand sounds like a decent way to go as well, but would ...

Re: BERLIN VWBUS TREFFEN 2013

Re: Attaching curtain snaps to (van) body?

finally got round to finishing these off. as i wanted just simple blinds that were flexible (could be left on during travel or taken off and stowed) i went down the snaps route. as said Drill and screw. neat sets of snaps i got from 'world of sewing' are something like yacht and caravan ones, come w...

Re: BERLIN VWBUS TREFFEN 2013

thought this would be the best place to ask them that know - can anybody explain how you pay for the weekend? I understand it has to be bank transfer, but I don't understand what some of the numbers are, and I've never done an international bank transfer! the registration email said this: "Than...

Attaching curtain snaps to (van) body?

hi everyone, i'm thinking of making up some blinds out of old coffee sacks to suit the rat-look (tatty) theme of my van. i don't want to have full on curtain rails, but i heard of people using the metal snaps/poppers/press studs. I was just wandering how you fix them to the body of the van - as a bi...

Re: France - any suggestions for a month road trip?

i would recommend foret d'orient near troyes if you're going that way. i was passing on the way to the alps on my trip last summer and stopped off for a day - lovely lakes for swimming and relaxing on sunny beaches, might be a bit busy in high season, i went mid august and it was almost deserted! ha...
