Update. There was much good advice from my original question including use of 'fir tree' clips and 'bend your door card' before fitting. My top tips would be bend the door card for a couple of weeks using luggage straps, use 'fir tree' door clips (I got mine from Bresco, 8.5mm width, suitable for Ro...

Many thanks to you all, it is good to know that on this occasion it wasn't me just being an idiot and misery does love company! I am in the lucky position that I ended up with two sliding door cards as the first turned up damaged (nobody wanted it back) which has allowed me to discover all of my doo...
