AAZ cambelt..

The cambelt on my van was new when I replaced the rubbish JX with a 165000 mile AAZ 9+ years ago so thought I best change it..the belt coming off was a Gates one from vw...it was quite loose and I'm not a massive fan of gates products, got a Dayco kit for £32 and fitted it ..set timing at 1.0 mm but...

Re: Recommended panels ?

Vw classic are re making rear arches are they not? Brickwerks have/had those and they looked very good...schofeelers stuff is improving , klokkerholm is quite poor generally and the front arches are literally hilarious !

Re: Injector burning up

Would suggest checking the valve clearance and timings first...seems you have a flame front in the inlet manifold for some reason...it certainly shouldn't happen and is potentially dangerous ..a backfire or stall could result in a burning airbox for example.

Re: Recommend a welder for body work in West Mids?

A skilled body repairer/panel beater is what you really need...not a welder...sure there was a guy in Crewe called Jim the painter or summat similar...

Re: Your views on this welding

I'm going to find a career where I'll be paid handsomely for doing things badly due to me having no idea. Sounds like a good earner to me!! Motor trade...seriously...serious shortage of techs everywhere...I would say don't apply where I work but then again please do because you will be better than ...

Re: Your views on this welding

That's dire...and as the patch doesn't appear to be joined at the bottom not even to MOT test standards...the mount itself appears new...did they source that ? also seems they can't be arsed to put a washer under the bolt...it's grim...sooner it's done right the better...have you paid?

Re: 1.6td jx and jr codes, are they the same?

The JX we know, the JR is a 75 bhp non intercooled engine with quite a large T3 garrett turbo and hydralic followers, the pump is almost the same and as good as a SB one..the SB has a water cooled T2 turbo or kkk equivalent and as stated has water cooling for the turbo and slight block mods to suit....

Saturday night feast at AO

Well food was eaten and very good it was...my pre packaged offering disappeared quickly so I don't feel guilty about my lack of "bake off" skills now..

Still not a fan of pasta. I'm more antipasta..

No idea what I ate or who made it but it stained my plate and tasted just fine... :ok

Re: Back from Adventure Overland

Got home a bit sooner than you ...we left at the same time in different directions! I had to take a bit of a detour to avoid a crash the M6 but it payed off and made it home alive..

Re: Brake bleeding order

If you can ...build pressure in the system...then using an assistant..open the nipple quickly ...this will shift 'sticky' bubbles...also on front calipers give the caliper a few whacks with a sutible blunt instrument to loosen any bubbles that may be stuck to the sides...a 19mm spanner as an example..
