Re: Heading down the Subaru route

I'm thinking of going down this route, but my van is an auto. Has anyone got any experience living with a Scooby van coupled with a VW auto gearbox?

DJ engine refurb

Hi, my DJ engine has done about 90k miles (as far as I can tell) but is now dribbling a small amount of coolant from the heads and the exhaust is on it's last legs. So I'm going to bite the bullet and get the leaks fixed and replace a shiney new SS exhaust. I'm going to get someone to do the work fo...

Now I have read the excellent write up on insulation and sound deadening here: http://www.type2.com/library/heat/intrir1.html and was wondering if anyone can help with sourcing the British alternatives. Hi,
How did you get on with this, I've been thinking about doing something similar and wondered if you had any hints or tips?
Cheers

Re: fix or sell van with engine problems

Depending on exactly where you are in West London, you could also try VW Airfix near Sutton on 0208 647 3898. Darren knows and cares about old VWs, he owns a 2.1 Automatic Caravelle himself, so he'll be sympathetic. I found some other recommendations on another thread at https://club8090.co.uk/forum...

I think I'm going to go this route, yours do look fabulous. Were the holes filled using the type of thing xriss suggested before they were reupholstered, or are the holes still there underneath?

Thanks

Sterling Alternator or Battery to Battery charger?

I've read the articles on this and a few other forums and decided to go for a Sterling unit to manage the battery charging, however I don't know which version to go for. I'm just starting the conversion of a Caravelle into a camper, so currently there is no split charge or leisure battery so it's a ...

Replacement arm rests

Hi, It seems to be quite difficult to find replacement arm rests for captains chairs in my Caravelle (I've not been looking that long, but I have a feeling in my bones), so I thought I'd try a different route. Does anyone know of any other types of armrests that can be fitted in place of the origina...
