do you mean the 'Clarke CHT267 Seal Puller Tool' ? It looks like you gouge it out! OK! When new seal arrives I shall give that a go... Altho changing the oil would be a good idea too as it wont ever have been done before.. Thanks again

Thank you everyone, I've got a lot to do. and a lot to buy! looking forward to asking for a 'Poo plate' at halfords If I dont make too much of a mess of theis I'll post some pictures when I'm done. Thanks again for the advice

Hi guys, time for your help again before I get the spanner out. I made the mistake of loaning out my van (friend in need) and it came back with a slipping clutch and that burnt smell! looking into things I seem to have a choice of 215mm or 228mm. Now my van is originally a 1.6d and is now a golf 1.9...

and, yes, previous owner had attempted the roller technique and made a right hash of it. I start tomorrow on prep work... I think its gona take a while

When I replaced my windscreen seal, I also had the obligatory welding on the lip (all in the WIKI in case you need it) but I also used roofing mastic as an extra barrier against water ingress behind the rubber. The surplus was easily removed with white spirit. Must admit, since I did that I've not ...

So.. If mine is an after market conversion then the cheap ones should be ok for all except the windscreen. Thanks everyone, this is a really helpful owners site
