Leaking pushrod tube leads to no compression?!
Ok I had a slight oil leak from pushrod tubes so decided to fix that. I will detail the process in the hope that someone figures out why my van is now goosed!!  I took the rockers off, found that one rocker mounting bracket was broke so replaced that. Buttoned it all up, didn’t think I needed to adj...

Re: Checking/adjusting tappets
Right just found this on another post regarding cylinder position.
I get that this is the firing order will the cylinder at position 1 the one to check first at TDC?
......Flywheel.......
3 ----------------- 1
4 ---------------- 2

Checking/adjusting tappets
I am just about to replace leaky rocker gaskets and thought to check the lifters. I have read the wiki, I get how to do it, but (here come the obvious rookie questions) how do I get to TDC? I have an idea but want to be sure. And which cylinder is number 1, 2 etc? Do I need to do this with the engin...

Re: Clutch woes
Went a longer run, more folk in the van up steep long hills In 4th gear. No slipping! Looks like any contamination has cleared or burned off. Cleaned the whole engine with gunk and it looks like the original leak has stopped too. What is now apparent though is that there is a leak from the rocker c...

Re: Clutch woes
I was starting to think that this was all down to a badly worn clutch pedal clevis eye. For those that don't know, the top of the clutch pedal has a cranked arm that takes a clevis pin, which attaches the master cylinder rod and pushes down into the master cyl. The drilling for the clevis pin wears...

Re: Clutch woes
Is that you back on the road now Tom? Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk John?, Hi bud! Back on the road, that was an epic job! The crankshaft seal seems to be fine, no leaks but there was a lot of rainbow coloured marks on the ground in the puddles after a drive, could not see any leaks, it I as...

Re: Clutch woes
Sounds encouraging :ok Some strange collateral damage, wiring diagram for DG here http://syncrosport.com/info/wiring/ As I lowered the box the large plastic covered part that connects onto the rear of the starter somehow got caught under the pin that it connects to and as it lowered it stretched an...

Re: Clutch woes
I think I have cracked it! I took the box off again and the clutch. When I picked it up a stone fell out! I think this might have been jamming the springs on the pressure plate. I am not 100% sure if it was in there all along or it was scooped up just after I took it off and put it on ground. I clea...

Re: Clutch woes
Box out again The thrust plate is correctly situated, looks good. Forks look good. When a helper pushes clutch pedal I can push against the bearing and feel pressure. All looks good. It moves ok when pedal pressed. I am now going to clean everything up again with brake cleaner and re install. There ...

Have a read here for other ideas https://club8090.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=137883 Shame you can't refit the old one, new parts can be bad, it was just an idea even though the throw of the piston is equal to the other one you tested Yeah that was a good read. New slave, new master, bled ...

Re: Clutch woes
I would have put a new disc in, can they be cleaned up ? The Haynes manual says clutch slip and clutch drag can be due to a contaminated friction disc. Read Haynes and it shows how to tell if the disk was too worn, mine wasn’t. I cleaned it with pressure washer and dried it. Figured a few hill star...

Re: Clutch woes
It's looking that way. Everything was fine before you removed the box to replace the oil seal and clean the friction plate up ? Yeah everything was good before, but clutch was slipping due to oil contamination I only started dicking about with hydraulics because a lot of gunk came out of the slave ...
