Re: Roof tent VS Doka Canvas load cover.
I've no idea if any of this will be helpful to you, but I went through a vaguely similar dilemma with my tintop after my second child was born. I didn't want to cut a hole to add a pop top so opted for a roof tent instead. I foresaw the same issues you describe with the canvas style roof tents and o...

Re: What if you stick with 14 inch wheels?
Ooops, sorry... that's a typo on my part, I meant 215/75R14, check it out on the link I put up. It works out as a minus 0.8% difference from the 205/80R14 tyres if that's what you've currently got fitted.

Re: What if you stick with 14 inch wheels?
It's 215/75R15, this is a useful site I've used with a built in calculator about 3/4 of the way down on page 1: http://www.carbibles.com/tyre_bible.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Page 4 of the site has a calculator that allows you to calculate the difference between yo...

Re: Stainless Exhaust
I've had a Brickwerks one fitted for almost two years now and I've been really pleased with it. Had I fitted a mild steel replica one I should think it would be getting to the end of its life now... The Brickwerks one fitted really well, no dramas and all the fittings came with it. Like syncrosimon ...

Re: Syncro bulkhead
That's a factory fitted bulkhead, It's exactly the same as the one fitted to my panel van. It's effectively a full height walk-through bulkhead, the best of both worlds in some ways, i.e. extra rigidity and security (I've fitted a curtain to close the gap when needed), but you can still get between ...

Re: 2.1 exhausts
I'll second that.
I had a look at a few of the systems, JP, Bluebird, etc, before choosing the Brickwerks kit. Excellent quality and straightforward to install, especially since it comes with all the fittings you need. Looks the same as the VW setup... except shinier!

Plumbing in water pipes for vaporiser on a 2.1
Had a search on here, but couldn't find the answer I was looking for. I was just wondering which way round people have plumbed their vaporisers in to the heater circuit on their 2.1 engines, i.e water inlet/outlet on vaporiser to inlet/outlet side of the heater circuit. Otherwise, does anyone have a...

Re: Syncro thermostat housing question
Hi Aidan, Thanks for your response, glad I'm not just being a numpty then! When you say it 'worked ok', did it leak a bit afterwards or something? Also, by the corroded seat on yours, do you mean there was an insert in the housing, or just the rest of the bolt hole after the lip? I only ask as I cou...

Syncro thermostat housing question
Sorry to put this in here instead of in technical, but I hoped more syncro owners would see it and might be able to help! Bit of an odd, very specific question regarding the cast syncro thermostat housing. I'm finally putting my engine back together after far too long and have come up against a prob...
Re: Wheels
I went through the same deliberations over this and in the end went with the Mefro's. I wanted something solid that meant I could put some decent tyres on the van with the minimum of fuss (didn't want alloys, longer studs, etc). Not actually put them on the van yet, but they look good and sturdy.

I was just behind you coming into the village tonight, looks like a nice bus. Glad you had a reasonably uneventful (in a good way!) journey back.
