whats actualy the issue with van to get you to this stage mate, i know you asked what sensor it was but it may help if i new what the issue was, may get a quicker answer lol, if you said it didnt idle i could guide you from there or if you said the choke wasnt working as i think they are electrified...

been quite sometime since i worked on a pierburg, but if your talkin about a sensor you are possibly seeing the idle solenoid, has it got one wire to it bout halfway up the carb

what colour is the smoke, and does it start at all
