Ben...bit of a tip.spread the weight on the trolley jack point by fixing an old flywheel or wooden disc to it (bolted centrally) to take the weight and protect the casing a bit. I've done this in the past and it works.

snap!

Same thing happened to me last week only the barrel collapsed and knackered the switch. Replaced them both (tenner for the barrel and keys, seven quid the nylon switch) and now working perfect. Easy enough job to do, just a bit daunting having to drill to release the old barrel. Any advice needed, g...

Mine starts from cold, first time every time, on LPG with no problems. Very rarely switch to carb and then not because of the engine temp. Running a standard carb but i think the choke has been set to full as the boys suggest above.

I use Firestone Vanhawk 8 ply, superb tyres and should rob you about 38 to 45 quid per tyre balanced. Good grip and they never seem to wear out. Wobbly

Snap!!

I'm having a very similar problem with my 1985 1900 dg at the moment. Fine from cold but a bugger to start (intermittent) when hot. Also the occasional 'pop' backfire as the spark is lost. Going to go the route of replacing individual ignition items (coil first,HT leads, dizzy cap and rotor arm, then ...

first timer!

Just done mine on saturday, front of the vehicle needs to be raised at least a foot or more off the ground to refill. I used six bottles of vw g12+ and it took all of it plus a good deal of water. I found the advice on the wiki and brickyard invaluable, together with the haynes. Knowledge is power my ...

Wait twenty minutes and all's well. On the phone to JK's ordered a hot start relay, coil, HT leads, dizzy cap, rotor arm and elec...

Errrrrrrrrrrr...eh?

Cheers Bowton lad, thanks for the suggestion. Andy...good point. This is my first experience with LPG so it's all new to me. What i do know is that it starts first time on LPG and does not require the acc pedal to be touched at all. The LPG fitter told me not to depress it until after it had started....

me little problem...ahem!

thanks for that but does that apply to LPG because i've been told that there is no choke function with LPG as the only part of the carb being utilised is the throttle. That would make the foot down start business redundant surely? I am more than happy to give it a go tho', hell i'm always up for any...

This is the sort of question that will probably have hundreds of you groaning but (and yes,i have read the wiki..!) i've got a bit of a problem with starting when the engine is hot. Not always, just now and again but then i've only had the camper for two weeks and it is my first. My van is a watercoo...
