Re: Norway camping advice
You`ll meet loadsa bikers on the way up so you won`t be alone, I saw plenty of `em when I went to Nordkap in 2006. Can`t recommend any campsites, but they were well signed, also basic cabins to hire as well. Expect problems with the Police if you get caught speeding :( They arn`t tolerant of it at a...

Re: AAZ lost power - what could cause that?
Head gasket or cracked head, probably due to cooking it. OIl in the coolant can be caused by a knackered oil cooler (the sandwich between the filter body and the filter head with the pipes running to it) BUT this wouldn`t explain the power loss. The wobbly pulley is an obvious one to see, just grab ...

Re: Diesel Starter question
Use a single jump lead, from the NEGATIVE on the battery and clamp it right on the nose of the starter. This cured the same fault on mine (after presuming it must be the live feed causing the problem, for hours) I`ve now got a piece of 50 amp cable permanantly attached from the battery neg, to one o...

Re: F45 awning bracket - fitting problem
It is possible to get the small Z shaped brackets upside down / back-to-front and this gives you problem of the bolt seeming to be short.

Re: F45 awning bracket - fitting problem
Had to manipulate mine with a vice and hammer so they are bent a little further out, allows the pop-top to go up without fouling.

Re: Waterproof/insulating wrap for raised roof?
Baxter sells `em, highly recommended, keeps the canvas dry, insulation for heat in or out, and also a good black-out for those sunny mornings :) http://www.brickwerks.co.uk/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=shop.flypage&product_id=326&category_id=83&manufacturer_id=0&op...

Re: fridge on gas...
Try it on hook-up overnight first, control switch to full. Should be down to around zero overnight. It won`t work very efficiently on 12v (when driving about) so you can`t really gauge it from that. On gas it will take 2 or 3 hours at least to drop the temperature down to working level (depending on...

Re: where to get new pop top canvas?
You get what you pay form IMO. Earlier canvas was stapled to wooden strips, later ones have alloy clamping strips and screws. Age depends on the Westfalia conversion date, not when VW built the `van, which could have been loitering at the factory waiting it`s turn.

Re: where to get new pop top canvas?
Original quality ones from Peter Gunzl, Germany who is "Mr Westy", has most of the original Westfalia parts from the factory, and soruces / has made stuff that`s obsolete. Easy to order and pay, they speak English on the fone or via email, and fast delivery. (they supply a lot of the OE st...

Re: Reedham Ferry campsite, Norfolk..
Not stayed at Reedham, had a look at it though. Nice looking sight a bit further North towards Potter Heigham, Bureside. They have large fields, electric and non-electric, outdoor pool, shop etc, fishing lake on site and also access to the river for fishing and boat launching. FAMILYS ONLY, no all-m...
