Re: Over heating while idling for an hour

I guess the answer is you can always stop.. But I was on the A34 and there was no hard shoulder, approaching a roundabout. So I basically thought I'd aimed to get to the other side of the roundabout where I knew there was a bus stop and I didn't make it in time.. Ah well.. And the swag was weighing ...

Re: Over heating while idling for an hour

I do just that I had a nasty incontinent last year where my v-belt popped off and I couldn't stop anywhere at the time. By the time I stopped a pipe had burst, I decided to sort quite allot of my coolant system out then. I replaced the pipe of course and the header tank. Also I read on here about po...

Re: Over heating while idling for an hour

Basically yes it was the fan switch. I think the confusion here from my early replies might be when the cable pop's off my header tank that sends the needle to the far right, nothing else. I don't know why but the plug to the cable that links to my header tank doesn't seem to fit too well. Maybe it'...

Re: Over heating while idling for an hour

The temp transmitter to the fan stopped working. All fixed, I guess that's why it wasn't so warm either

Re: Over heating while idling for an hour

When the cable pops out it flashes and goes to max temp on the gauge while driving. I then stop and pop it back in and it's near half so I guess it's not that like you say.

Thanks,

Roger

Re: Over heating while idling for an hour

Well I made it back with quite allot of traffic but no 1 hour stand still. One thing I forgot to mention is the cable from the header tank popped off a few times. Would that affect the fan management? I still think the fan isn't kicking in but I'll do some more faffing on the weekend.

Thanks,

Roger

Re: Over heating while idling for an hour

Yeah I think my first shock might be simply trying to get home without over heating in all the flippin traffic: http://www.bbc.co.uk/travelnews/stoke

Might make use of the bed in the back if all else fails

Re: Over heating while idling for an hour

I'll have a look on Sat with the grill off, I'm guessing I should see some movement or feel some air. Then I'll try the cable thing, I guess at least it'll get my heart rate up in this weather if I do jump

Thanks,

Roger

Over heating while idling for an hour

I was stuck in traffic this morning and I noticed my temp was going up and up. I had to stop in town after a while to cool it down, it was definitely overheating Normally I never get stuck in traffic (normally bike to work) so I guessed I've never noticed this. Do you think this could be the fan? Or...

Re: Colour idea's

Ah I see you're a designer as well, so you probably get my issues with colour. It's all a bit like a tattoo, I need to pick the right colour early on and get used to the idea I think. http://www.colourlovers.com/color/FF9B1B/orangina%E2%84%A2" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ...

Colour idea's

Hi, I'm about to embark on the long, tedious, soul destroying and yet liberating experience of re-painting my bus. Only soul destroying because of the abuse I'll get for spending hours on it :) The below photo really doesn't do justice to how many scratches and patina the body work has.. http://eth3...

What's the difference between the following parts: 025 121 4

What's the difference between the following parts: 025 121 407 or 025 121 403 (header tank)

I have a: 025 121 407 with a crack but I can only seem to find 025 121 403 which look the same to me.

Shall I just get a 025 121 403?

Re: Crack in water expansion tank

Crumbs! I'll see how I get on with the new one then. Ordered a new cap from brickwerks.. I can but try, at least I now know to check it.

Re: Crack in water expansion tank

Ok if you say so. I was wondering if mine was working at all. It looks fairly new but if you say some don't work. I guess that could attribute to a few things..

Thanks,

Roger

Re: Crack in water expansion tank

Thanks, oops yeah sorry it's a 1.9 petrol.

That's sounds like the issue. Picked a new one up from ebay, I think I'll change the cap if it doesn't come with a new one.

Again thanks for your help.

Roger
