Re: Mechanical air cooled fuel pump.

Ok, so put fuel into carbs, turned over ,after a few goes, started to work on its own. so does that suggest that the old pump is now wearing out and needs replacing
Also, could I fit some kind of non return valve ?

Re: Starting problems

It is highly unlikely to be the timing. Although the battery is fairly new, it's the first thing to suspect with your symptoms. If you can borrow a known good battery off another vehicle, try that to find out if your battery has gone weak. BUT double check the way round the terminals are BEFORE con...

Re: Accelerator cable

Well, done it. just bought inner cable, and threaded it through. fiddly bit was the nut at the front end, 8 mil spanner in a very small gap. Took about 2 hours, including jacking up and putting on axle stands.
Happy bunny tonight.

How easy is it to replace an accelerator cable, or is it best for a garage to replace it?

Replacement engine.Options ?

Hi my 2 Lr 1981 cu air cooled engine needs to be replaced. local garages will not fix only replace. Best quote £2.5k. For recon engine fitted. My question is this, is there an alternative engine that would be suitable / cheaper ?
