Ok, so put fuel into carbs, turned over ,after a few goes, started to work on its own. so does that suggest that the old pump is now wearing out and needs replacing
Also, could I fit some kind of non return valve ?

Guys, got a problem, has anybody had the same issue. Fuel not pumping, but the pump is ok. I have tested the pipes , all seem clear,fuel passes through the the filter ok. Push rod not worn ,about 140 mm long. Had the pump off, and have manually been able to pump petrol through it. However petrol not...

It does start , 8 out of 10 times, but it seems like it is not going to turn the engine over, just a very slow, wa....wa...wa

It is highly unlikely to be the timing. Although the battery is fairly new, it's the first thing to suspect with your symptoms. If you can borrow a known good battery off another vehicle, try that to find out if your battery has gone weak. BUT double check the way round the terminals are BEFORE con...

Well, done it. just bought inner cable, and threaded it through. fiddly bit was the nut at the front end, 8 mil spanner in a very small gap. Took about 2 hours, including jacking up and putting on axle stands.

Thanks guys, had a guy come round to check engine, I thought it sounded like a valve, he says deeper than that possible big end.. Anyone know of a good garage around norwich area ? The two that I called yesterday say not worth it just put in new engine...

Hi my 2 Lr 1981 cu air cooled engine needs to be replaced. local garages will not fix only replace. Best quote £2.5k. For recon engine fitted. My question is this, is there an alternative engine that would be suitable / cheaper ?
