Re: CU care tips please

Speaking of the auto gear oil. Has it ever been changed? Sometimes importance is placed on the engine and other things get forgotten. If it never has been changed I don't think 30 year old gear oil will still be doing the job it's supposed too. When I served my time as a mechanic the old guy(well he...

Re: 2.0 Aircooled petrol consumption

Thanks for that.
Not sure if getting LPG system fitted would pay for itself. Cost of fitting compared to how many miles I may actually drive.
I'll have to have a think about how many miles a year I may do compared to the cost of LPG fitting I guess. If I was to buy the van that is.
Thanks again.

2.0 Aircooled petrol consumption

Hi All
Thinking of buying an Aircooled T25 bus. It's a 2.0 litre and am wondering what sort of mpg to expect with careful right foot action. Rough figures around town and on a run will give me an idea of how many tankers I will need.
Many thanks for any help

Hi used to have a 1.9 DG that used to stall every now and then.
Tracked it down to a dirty carb and the electric manifold heater didn't work.
Cleaned out the carb and replaced the temp switch(not the one for the gauge, the other one)and had no bother after that.
Hope this helps.

Hi Westy
Already have a timer fitted seperately so would probably need to rewire it all to remove the current timer and thermoswitch and replace with combined timer/switch.
If i can bodge it up and keep it all as is it would probably be easier than replacing it all.
Cheers.

Cheers Westy think it'll be a bodge as a new one is about £110,and that's if you can get one.

Hi,
Have you got a model number?
I've just had a quick look in their website and the D1L uses approx 0.21litre/hour at rate voltage-whatever that means.
If you get a different model number have a look on eberspacher website under support and pick the model your mate has.

Hi, You may be going along the right road with the temp sender. Are there two senders one for the temp gauge and one for the ecu?If the one for the ecu is knackered perhaps the ecu is thinking its cold and putting the equivalent of the choke on all the time, hence too much fuel=black smoke. Probably w...
