Re: Golf Mk4
The enthusiasm and excitement took a U turn in this thread. Did you not research numbers before you pulled it to bits or did you know and you were playing for gits and shiggles?

Re: Golf Mk4
AWG from 3.5 cabbie is also a cross flow engine and fits using standard diesel parts. Made a few looms for them now.

Re: Running rough after sitting for 3 months
You say you’ve checked fuel system, does that include taking carb top off and float not being stuck ? Tap carb top vigorously with a screw driver handle or wooden shaft of a hammer vigorously whilst it’s running in the first to saves taking top off.

Diesel Heaters
I save all my sensible questions for here as FB is a festering mass of stupid. Diesel heaters……. I’ve had two Eberspacher D2 Airtronics and were rather fab. Have seen Planet and Mikuni are now making them. Obvs Webasto is still int he game. Just wondering what the heater of choice is these days? Hav...

I’m a tad confused here.
Have you touched the cambelt at all? What pulleys have you taken off? Just water pump/alternator?

Re: Alternator Voltage Regulator - for the win!
Deffo. Have a huge spreadsheet on my phone I’m working through with every job (bumper to bumper - electrical and mechanical) As you know, last job was front end (sorry for all the Qs). Ended up completely making a new headlamp/indicator etc loom for front end. Cleaned heater matrix. New foam kit. ...

Alternator Voltage Regulator - for the win!
Fitted a new voltage regulator today on my tdi. Paid the grand sum of £12.24 for a febi one. Was 14.5 volt one and not 14v. Was so excited I didn’t take before and after at the battery with multi meter. (Might refit old one and do it scientifically for more accuracy for comparison  ) Ama...

Re: Earth Strap
It’s deffo additional. If it was me I’d see if it runs to one of the starter motor bolts and if it’s long enough stick it under one of them. Maybe take it to local battery centre and get them to crimp another terminal on first.

Re: Fitting Wolfy Exhaust
That’s an early mounting bracket on NS as it has no return on the vertical so is correct one for that system.
Keep an eye on where the tailpipe exits the box and also where the Y collector merges for fractures.

Re: Chicken switch ( standard 2 speed fan)
I am in the unfortunate position someone has drilled four differing holes in the lower face of a mint LLE dash
Going to Switzerland in the summer all being well so that fills one hole
Have brand new water pump radiator stat and hoses to fit beforehand though.

Have my dash in bits
Found the Red/White ok. Can anyone confirm where the red/blue is? I’ve found one that is after the relay and disappears towards fan but not one behind the relay plate.
Anyone know what terminal or plug it’s on?

Re: Fuel leak diesel
Weren’t those pumps on the Unwelt (environment/environmental/eco i think in German) badged cars/engines? Think are 15/20 pump variants if you’re bored with life and look on etka. It’s is similar to the ABL pumps on a T4 in that there was no LDA fitted (therefore no extra fuel is introduced to make u...
