Yeah, thought another strip/refill/rebuild would be the (unfortunate) answer! Annoyingly, the tappets weren't ever stripped out, the engine being sat on the garage floor with just one head off. Oh well, there you go! I'll just think of all the extra power I'll have with all the valves opening proper...

So, after trying to change the exhaust, and having to remove the engine, then a head to have the broken stud machined out :evil: :evil: I started reassembly this evening. All going well, then once the rocker gear was bolted back and torqued up, I checked if the pushrods moved....... All fine except ...

Hell's teeth - it's obviously the season for this to happen....... I've got one stud that's done the same - sheared off, so started drilling it out in increments and second drill bit sheared off nice and flush. Drilled in to one side and - AAARGH - second drill bit sheared off :roll: There's no chan...

HELP! Need a good mechanic in West Oxon
I tried to start removing the old, rusty exhaust today and guess what. Yup. First bolt sheared off flush with the head, despite a week of soaking with Plus Gas. I really haven't got the drive or facilities to strip everything, drill and tap the thread etc., so does anyone know a good VW T25 mechanic...
