One of the things is that the temp gauge on the standard clocks is only reaching the high end of the first white mark durin normal motoring. Can anyone recommend an alternat...

Re: Mains hook-up dangers

http://www.practicalcaravan.com/forum/technical/39285-bit-of-a-shock I particularly like this reply - not sure if it's true Whatever you do DO NOT connect your Caravan van chassis to ground. The nearest earthing point of the supply system may be at a substation some distance away which could mean t...

Re: Non VW = electrical safety when using a generator

Generally speaking generators have the earth pin on the socket connected to it's own frame. From this you are supposed to put a rod in the ground, this would in theory complete the circuit of there was an rather fault. Personally I wouldn't trust the theory on a generator. If you are wanting to use ...

Re: not vw -LED dimmers for mains

http://www.cef.co.uk/catalogue/products/4136937-5-250w-led-grid-dimmer-module?q=led+dimmer we use these, they have a trimer on them to adjust the low output so you can really get the best dimming out of the lamp. We generally install Collingwood fittings with scholmoore dimmers which work very well...

Re: Do I buy a MIG welder?

Likewise I've got a Clarke gas mig welder https://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/135te-turbo-mig-welder Does everything I've ever wanted it to do, mostly fabricating crackpot inventions, patches on various motors etc. Argon mix works best, pub gas ok that's what I've been using for ages,...

Re: Do I buy a MIG welder?

Yes. It's good fun, but practise makes perfect, I'd advise on obtaining a welder and practising before you have to carry out the patches, I didn't when I first started which is why my patches looked like they had been applied by a bird flying past and sh1tting at speed. Passed the most though, albei...

Re: double pole MCBs in consumer unit

I wish people would refrain from giving advise where they do not know correctly what they are talking about. The current regs state that "all final circuit over current protection devices shall be double pole" this means the circuit breaker, MCB or trip switch call it what you will ...

Re: B15 to GU10 Adaptors=are they safe

Never going to be as reliable as a direct fit replacement, very quick search turned up some lamps at about £7 each, too pricey? A decent gu10 to us is about £7.
