We have an air awning. It slides into the c channel fixed to the van and with a drive away strip allows you to drive off and leave it standing if you have one that has a gap between the main room and the van which I think most have.
It fits older and newer vans.

Re: Silly Question (probably) - Applying Captain Tolley's
I’ve used it in the past. It will only creep into where it’s needed so just run a tiny bead around the rubber to the metal and it’ll flow into any gaps.

Re: Starts then cuts out
As mentioned plus check the inlet manifold gasket.
Get someone to carefully spray some carb cleaner around it and see if it picks the revs up.

Does it leak, I can’t tell by properly by the photo?
Obviously some previous owner repair of some sort in the past. You could always use a simple pump to remove the old oil while you see how lucky you feel before removing it.

I now use Buzzweld Chassis Guard. Easy to apply and a little goes a long way. You need to touch up areas after about 6 months but as it’s easy to use it’s not been a problem. Previously I had used Waxoyl, both clear and black but I found that it corroded underneath especially on the trailing arms th...

Re: Replaced ignition coil - still stalls
When my van started to have a bad idle and then cut out at junctions it was the inlet manifold. By spraying carb cleaner around this area while someone sat in it to keep it ticking over the revs picked up indicating a leak. As mentioned it’s easy to check the coil/ ht leads with a multi meter. There...

Re: Clutch Master Cylinder Replacement
Have you put your hand up there to see there’s any fluid around the cylinder just to rule out the brake master? To put the pushrod in just guide it in by hand while manoeuvring the new part with your other hand. I watched a few videos for help although like you mine was rhd. https://youtu.be/ra5VvaF...

Re: Clutch Master Cylinder Replacement
It’s not too bad to do. You just need to get down to the same level. You’ll find your own comfortable spot! I didn’t have any problems with the connections but if you’re a bit worried give them a clean and a spray with plusgas prior to undoing. There’s a few good how to videos on YouTube. Get a dece...

You can buy them new or as others have done make your own out of something like an old for sale sign. There’s a template on the Samba forum and probably on the wiki on here.

Re: Gearbox oil change and frequency
I changed mine after experiencing the odd problem changing up after a long motorway run. It was nice and smooth afterwards. It gives you a chance to inspect the magnetic drain plug too.
