Hi Steve. I spoke to one of the guys you recommended and he was very helpful, gave a few suggestions. Eventually I contacted the garage who did all the work on it previously and explained the situation to them. They came and towed it away, and a day later brought it back in working order! To be hone...

Hi, thanks for your reply. Not sure which black wire you mean, there are lots in there, nothing seems to be disconnected. That fuse is OK and I think the glow plugs are working because the light comes on and the van was starting when cold until recently. The problem was only occurring when the engin...

Van won't start, mechanic needed Herts/Beds area

Does anybody know of a mechanic or expert in my area who might be able to get my 1.6D (n/a) camper started? Or does anyone out there who knows T3 diesels fancy earning themselves a few quid? I live on the Hertfordshire/Bedfordshire border, close to Hitchin and Stevenage. Following a blown head gaske...

I don't have the confidence to tackle this job I'm afraid.

If I get an AAZ will I need a new gearbox, or will my standard 4 speed be OK?

Thanks for your replies.

I'm leaning towards buying a new engine. I know where there's a used 1Y for £400 and an AAZ for £600. Don't know the history but there's a 3 month warranty.

Depends how much the garage will charge for fitting...

Blown head gasket : £600 to repair???

Well, my first camping trip of the year didn't go at all well. I ended up coming home a couple of hours after I set out - on the back of an RAC truck! Overheated and the died, coolant boiled. Engine not seized but won't run. RAC man said it's almost certainly a blown head gasket. I don't have the to...

Chrome Fuel Cap

Anyone got one of those Chrome Fuel Caps you see on eBay all the time, advertised as being specifically for the Type 25?

Any good? Do they fit properly?

Thanks,

Adam.

Yeah that's the trouble - I don't know how 'right' my measurements are, it's a bit difficult to measure accurately. I've had another look and some of the dimensions on mine seems slightly smaller than those on the Fiamma diagram. I'll try a bit of fannying about with glue first, and then take a risk...

Yeah like that, but it's a Jensen not a Fiamma.

I just found a replacement lid on a site that sells stuff for American motorhomes.

But the housing (which on further inspection is also broken) isn't available, so I suppose I'll have to try and superglue that bit!

Thanks.

Help! Shattered high top roof vent!

I have a camper with an EMC High Top and I've just shattered the transparent plastic roof vent.

It's about 40cmx40cm square and has "Jensen, Los Angeles" stamped on it.

And it's just starting to rain outside. Great.

Anyone know where I can get a new one?

Many thanks oldiguana... I've just this minute come in after another attempt to start it up, and this time it worked (eventually)!

But I will certainly take your advice about the glow plugs - I see they are only £6 a piece at JK.

Thanks again,

Adam.

Diesel camper won't start

I've read the Wiki and realise this is probably something to do with the glow plugs, but before I replace them, can anyone offer any further advice? My 1.6D hasn't been used at all over the winter, I've left it standing on my drive, starting it up occasionally just to keep the battery charged. Then ...
