Re: Can I just remove the turbo?
An update! I'll try & answer all the questions.. 1. I am in Brittany 2. It is a belt - not the starter, sorry I meant alternator belt. It was so big it was almost jumping off. Changed now - cost EURO 10. 3. It is a short black pipe with a bend in it - I'll try & photograph it tomorrow. Techn...

Re: Can I just remove the turbo?
Well, it is in the hands of Monsieur Herve now. Earlier this year he replaced the belt for us on the starter motor - the one a different garage (not THE specialist) had put on was two inches too big. Yep, it squealed a bit. Anyway, he did it in less than ten minutes, charged us ten euros including t...

Tah, I'll point him in that direction - I doubt if he has seen many

As for work that it went in for - nothing to do with the engine, none of which got done - well one minor thing did.

Can I just remove the turbo?
My 1.6 TD was running beautifully but after a 'specialist' did some other work, he noticed the turbo was barely connected, so re-connected it for me. Since then, it is bugger to start, smokes loads when cold & whistles a lot. It now smokes from somewhere other than the exhaust. Can I just take t...

Re: France - any suggestions for a month road trip?
We did 5 weeks last year - no plan other than to get to Calais & turn right. We drove along the coast and cut down from the Cherbourg peninsula then from Granville down to Vendee and back up along the coast of Brittany. Absolutely the best holiday ever apart from a road trip in Oz! Brittany is t...

Camper van canvas roof - advice needed!
Hi guys I wonder if you can help me with this? I bought a new roof canvas from Just Kampers to replace the really knackered one on my 1986 T25. Standard Westfalia roof. When Doug tried to fit it, although the front piece was the right length, the sides were too short to allow the roof to lift fully ...

Re: Recommend a T25 mechanic near Chichester.
Thank you guys for both recommendations Ill be checking them both out as soon as I finish the domestic stuff. Mr W. is home now and about 3,000k covered. May have been more - just a rough guess, but will now start sticking back on the bits that fell off, mending stuff and chucking stuff away complet...

Recommend a T25 mechanic near Chichester.
At The moment we are on our way home from Brittany & can't find a garage here to help. List of things that have broken or happened so far : Mileometer stopped working. Loud & irritating knocking sound from R/h/s.most of the time. Had it checked, but refused to perform to order and the garagi...

Re: Best campsites for leaving the van parked up
If you are travelling to North Norfolk you could do a lot worse than camping at Burnham Deepdale http://www.deepdalefarm.co.uk/ . Dog friendly, small supermarket and a very decent cafe two minutes away, great walks coastal, good pubs - one only three minutes away, clean facilities and a bus stop for...

Re: Where's your favourite places in France?
Aups, Bauden & Lac St. Croix (the actual Lac, not the village). Perne les Fontaines - free aire next to river - just lovely! I recommend you join France Passion before you go as this gives you access to some lovely free camping once you have joined. If you are going in the height of the summer t...
