Those 2 litres don't run well on 009s fella (no stock v-dub does accurately). The problem you've got is that without the vacuum advance/retard, the dizzy won't meet the needs of the engine at all throttle openings and you can't therefore set a timing point that works perfectly. As the heading says, turns over ,backfires once then runs ok, could the timing ne out ? 2L a/c

cleaned everything, tested outer 2 points on the dizzy plug= 8volts, also tested there is a supply to the coil when turning over........she fired up, mixture of running ok,loses power, cuts out @ back fires, and difficult /non stating. tried cleaning again , no difference, when not starting, I get t...

Yes it looks like the hall chip is not working but check you have more than 5 volts (should be nearer 11v) across the two outside pins of the distributor plug. The ICU powers the the hall chip via the idling stabiliser plug and it is not unknown for the wires/connections to break in the plug. Is th...

Hi Having trouble with 82 2L a/c, broke down coming back from Stonor , AA said it was ICU , changed that, ok for 400 miles then starting back firing etc, then would not start , changed coil, leads, cap, rotor arm, still no go, checlked spark again today ......no spark, at plug end or from the coil H...

Found the drain, it was in the water pump,"her who must be obeyed", must have knocked the switch on (replacement rocker switch) cant hear it as the motor must be u/s by now! Any way changed the ICU unit, everything seems fine at the moment, test tomorrow...............take it out for a rid...

Carb set up,
Put battery on last night, it cut out twice, started str8 away ran and revved for 40 mins ok, left it for 4 hours then batt was flat, had it checked today so going to put it back on and check for draining
