Belt set up

Can anyone tell me the correct set up / alignment for the alternator / water pump / /crank belts on a 1.6 TD 1989 engine. The reason I ask is that I have just had the water pump & alternator replaced as the alternator belt kept snapping even after re tensioning. The original set up was a large b...

Blown fuse - interior lights

Lost power to clock, interior lights and radio. Located blown fuse but I cannot change it as keeps shorting somewhere. Am I missing some other bit of kit which is still on or is it maybe a problem with the wiring? If it's the wiring I'll call in an Electrician. However, would this require me to take...

Allen head bolts

For some reason I'm finding hard to source the allen head bolts which secure the water pump pulley. The current ones will almost certainly snap when I attempt removal as they will not move but they have to!! Anyone any bright ideas? I've tried the usual suspects JK. GSF, VW Heaven, Megabug and other...

Screeching Alt belt

Just had my alternator belt replaced as previous snapped through age/wear & tear. It looked secure, little bit of play, not too much. However, as soon as I move away I get the screeching sound normally associated with a slipping or worn belt. It's very loud in 1st and gradually reduces 'til 4th....

Re: Westy Sliding door window

Many thanks for the advice guys. Insurance are looking into it at the mo, but the type of window is confusing them!!

For synchrospares: Do you mean from suppliers in the UK or generally? As far as I can see, there only seems to be Gunzl's for a new window. Is there a UK supplier?

Cheers

Westy Sliding door window

Some to**pot has fired what looks like a fishing weight through my sliding door window. It is the original westy plastic double glazed model. The hole, which is about 3" diameter, is through both panes of the panel. So, I'm thinking something like a catapult was used! Anyway, can it be fixed? I...

Just returned from the Loire, covered a fair few miles, stayed in the three good campsites, the van performed faultlessly. It is a wonderful area, will re visit because you cannot possibly cover it all in a week and a half. Many thanks to Mrs pepperami & Vic 20 for the advice, it was spot on. Al...

Water Tank sensor

I opened my water tank to clean ready for refilling (the tank has been empty for some time) but noticed an oily liquid in the bottom of the tank. Could this have leaked from the water level sensor that screws into the lid or do I need to be investigating other areas? Any advice much appreciated. 1.6...

Turbo issues

I think my turbo may not be functioning properly or at all (based on the fact that it doesn't kick in at speed as it should). My questions are: How can I check without the means to have a look underneath? If I can get underneath is there obvious areas to look for, or is it worth just taking the van ...
