Ignition Coil Differences
1986 DG engine with TCI H electronic ignition. Spark from king lead more yellow than blue and may be cause of occasional problems, so want to try another coil. Mine is original green label VW part 211 905 115D. Ordered second hand replacement, but has suffix B not D which looking at JK and Heritage ...

Re: 1.9 DG Pierburg Choke Wiring
Thanks - that's how it appeared to be originally wired, but I'd be thinking that maybe auto choke needed disabling by removing 12V when engine up to temp, rather than have 12V all the time. Anyhow, that's how I'll wire it and thanks for your input.

T25 DG & Similar - Oil Priming
Surprised little mention of this on forum. When I recently rebuilt engine, despite greasing the oil pump spur gears, could not get any oil pressure when cranking prior to start-up. Incidentally, never ever after any engine rebuild connect the ignition until you know that oil pressure is OK by just c...

Waterboxers - Coolant - Read or Regret
Many will known this as several threads over the years, but newbies and folk with deep pockets need the reminder! If you've got a Waterboxer watercooled flat four of the 1980's, go out and immediately change the coolant and then do it every 2 years. That will cost you for G12+ compatible coolant (ag...

1.9 DG Pierburg Choke Wiring
1986 1.9DG. Have read a few articles on wiring of Pierburg automatic choke, carb pre heat and shut off solenoid. Many reckon that these have 12V feed whenever ignition is on, whereas my Haynes wiring diagram and some other responses suggest that the automatic choke (and maybe the preheat) are only e...

Re: main and big end bearing sizing 1.9DG WBX
Seems like you may be another Cumbrian? I'm rebuilding my DG after head studs corroded and water leaked, but all the internals are in very good condition. So probably can't help you except I'm learning about gaskets, seals, etc on this complicated engine, which you maybe already know about. What you...

Re: Anti Freeze Comma G40?
Being in the process of rebuilding my T25 DG 1.9 engine due to corrosion of the cylinder head studs, the answer basically seems to be - doesn't matter overmuch what antifreeze you use, just change it every 2 or 3 years as the corrosion inhibitors only last that long. I'd used G12 to top up for my 12...

Re: T25 1.9DG Clutch Parts
Thanks everyone for your inputs and words of wisdom. Mine's a 228mm and as you've now advised, seems I can get it from RJES for £45. By the way, I put a post up a couple of weeks ago asking for recommendations as to what sealant to use between the crankcase halves (yes, I'm doing my own rebuild havi...

T25 1.9DG Clutch Parts
Anyone know please where I can buy separately a release bearing and disc, without the diaphragm / pressure plate assembly? All I can find is complete 3 piece kits at around £100.

T25 1.9DG Rebuild - Sealant
Am rebuilding 1.9 DG and would appreciate advice on what sealant to use for the crankcase halves etc. VW type AMV 188 001 02 according to the manual, but don't think this is available easily. Should I use Blue Hylomar, an RTV type or what? Also any general advice on applying the yellow & black s...

T25 1.9DG block reclaim - corroded head studs
Yup, the 1.9 DG engine in our well loved and cared for garaged 1986 Autohomes Komet camper has blown at 95k miles with the usual corroded head studs problem I've now learnt about! Have removed (hard work after 26 years with lots of siezed up bolts) and stripped it and everything is in incredibly goo...
